the journalist represents Indian high society, which does not want any change in Indian society. The opening of the economy to the Chinese style presupposes the enrichment of very poor social classes, like Jack MA, from a modest family who became multi billionaires in 10 years. An untouchable turned multibillionaire in a few years in India today? Indian high society are not ready to accept this. That was why India chose to stay out of RCEP. Preserving the current economy favorable to upper caste society. this is what I understood from Mr. mahbubani when he mentioned Deng Xiaoping when talking about the successes of Chinese people around the world, but not in China

@James Lum First china supplied nuclear blueprint to Pakistan which is a known terrorist nation. Then every single time CCP opposed India at any given platform like UN,NSG,UNSC membership, etc. Then the border provokation. And after all of this CCP thinks India should accept whatever CCP wishes.I believe India china are somewhat Similar civilization in some way and both have great future together but given that these all issues are there things will not happen as it should happen. And the onus is on china.Either way India's goal will be achieved and terrorist Pakistan will be annihilated.

The Interviewer puts Chinese border incursions to him. At first he says that India should forget about border disputes and concentrate on the economy, what's a few square kilometres of real estate compared to a booming economy ? The interviewer persists so he changes his mind and says that India should not yield any land but should negotiate with 'cunning', play China and India off against each other.. He finishes up by flattering the interviewer with how competitive and successful Indians are and pulls a party trick showing that India's Trade value could be 75 Trillion compared with 20 for the US and 14 for China. She caught him out several times, he's no genius. He's popular here because the first part of his interview is all about how wonderful China is, how it is going to overtake the US (don't they love that), and become the dominant World Power and that India should defer to China. I reckon most didn't watch after that.

*How India was Recruited and Groomed* "..... In the war against China, the *US has chosen India to be the big pawn* as traditional US “allies” like Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia have all signaled that they don’t want to be a part of WW3. To give credit to the US, they have been planning on recruiting India for a long time. Let’s expound on this more … First, one must understand the Faustian bargain that India made with the US. America opened up its job market for Indians, and India opened up its entire economy for the US! And the USA wins in both sides of the deal. Get the brightest workers from India; and in return get two things: (1) access to 1.3 billion consumers, and (2) a geopolitical puppet state. Democracy and Free Market are propaganda slogans. *Why hasn’t the US tried to spread democracy in Saudi Arabia?* No, that would be very dangerous - what if a populist Saudi guy gets elected and kicks out the US military base and starts selling oil in Yuan? That would be the end of USA’s global hegemony. Throughout the Cold War history, the US supported and installed dozens of dictators and mass murderers all over the world - in Cambodia, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, all over Latin America, Middle East, Africa etc. Currently, the US funds and arms about 70% of all non-democratic governments around the world. Just last year, when the socialist leader of Bolivia won the election, the US instigated a military coup and overthrew the winner. In the 1970s, the US even staged a coup in Australia and overthrew the popular Prime Minister who wasn’t very pro-US. Here is the general idea: “You can choose anyone democratically, as long as he is pro-USA.” *Thus, India shouldn’t fall for the propaganda for “like-minded democratic nations” getting together to contain China* And “free market” was great until China started to win. Now the US likes protectionism and hates WTO, which the US created! When Walmart buys FlipKart - India’s successful e-commerce startup - that’s cheered on as free market. But do you think the US would have allowed FlipKart to buy Walmart? Of course, not. The Indian executives in America will never be able to go back to India and start competing corporations. The US has made sure that it has enough control over Indian banks, VC’s and other financial structures to guarantee that there won’t be any funding for Indian versions of Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, Google, Facebook, Amazon etc.... " ".... Looking at all the Indian media and the trolls on social media, it’s clear that Indians have been completely brainwashed to hate China. Indians who are so afraid of Huawei and TikTok possibly spying will gladly be spied upon by Facebook, Google, Nokia/Ericsson and every other western tech corporation - and all of them are linked to US spying agencies. This is a strategic blunder. Has India forgotten the revelations of *Edward Snowden* specifically how the US tapped Modi’s cell phone? If there’s an India-China war, not a single American is going to die for India. However, the US will ensure that the proxy war continues as long as possible. This will be great business for US arms dealers. Remember the words of the famous Indian activist, Arundhati Roy: ONCE WEAPONS WERE MANUFACTURED TO FIGHT WARS. NOW WARS ARE MANUFACTURED TO SELL WEAPONS. At the end of the war, India’s economy will be so weak that US corporations will buy even more Indian assets for pennies on the dollar. Furthermore, India must understand how the US economy and even the US military depends on China. American missiles and fighter jets cannot work without the rare earth minerals from China; and the US economy literally cannot function for even a few months without Chinese goods and labor. Also, US corporations based in China rake in tons of money, thanks to the Chinese middle class, which is the largest in the world. America’s S&P 500 companies based in China made $700 billion of revenue in 2018. *Conclusion* No, China shouldn’t be India’s enemy. For 2000 years, the two largest economies in the world were China and India. Guess how many wars they fought during those prosperous years? ZERO!..... As a Chinese, I mean no offence and harbor no ill will toward India and Indian people, but the narrow-mindedness, as demonstrated by the host of the show, is pretty staggering and dismaying. Her worldview seems to be more sabtaged by a hatred and resentment of China than shaped by a genuine interest in making India a better place. To people like her, the vision for India seems to be forever kowtowing to Western grandstanding and painting a pretty, cozy picture of India that delights some Westerners than actually improving the living conditions of ordinary Indian people and empowering them. I'm sorry, but until you have a more open mind and accept the reality of the world, India probably will keep struggling in so many ways (which I don't want to see). She sounded like she’s the mouthpiece of America, I thought an interviewer should be impartial to both sides. Kishore gets my vote for sensible advice, but in many cases they wouldn’t work if the receiver doesn’t want to listen.

That women is an intellectual lightweight, so simple in thinking and a lot of bias. Does't even deserve a discussion with the great Kishore.

Indian high society does not want the opening of its economy, it requires an equal opportunity for everyone in society. what will become of the caste of this Indian society? It is like the Qing dynasty in China, the beneficiaries of this caste did not want to let go of their privilege by changing society. Can one imagine that an untouchable became a few years 1 million times richer than a Brahmin in India today? So Jack Ma was a young Chinese without money from a very modest family, he became in 10 years multi billionaire today. This is the result of the opening of the economy. this is what I understood from Mr. mahbubani when he mentioned Deng Xiaoping when talking about the successes of Chinese people around the world, but not in China, and also Indien people around the world, but not in India.

Exactly. That's why Kishore ask them to do a simple calculation based on just 50% of successful Indians in America X the population of India. Just to open their eyes but they still don't get it. Still harbouring on the boarder issue and "China dumping goods" in India and banning Tik Tok etc..and destroying Chinese made mobile phones. How good are your Indian made mobile phones. Sold any to the outside world?

No need for being emotional. Stay calm and renew your mindset. Disputes will not go away but can be effectively managed with cool heads, just like with your neighbors. You can Agee to disagree but still live in harmony. No one gains in a battle. Respect the differences just as you do with your children. India and China can be friends without a third party interference. For 2000 years India and China have co-existed without wars until the west colonised Asia. U SA has history of 223 years of wars all over the world in her 225 years of history since its independence.

India a country with no hope if they disconnected from China... Unfortunately many Indian still strongly believe that their country is strong enough to contest with China all the way in every possible way... However India too divided and has no chance to becoming a superpower in this modern world which the Indian were dreaming about...

Wow, what an interview! It's a paradigm shift in thinking. Only Kishore, a hard hitting former Singapore diplomat of Indian descent can be so brutally frank in his analysis that India is seriously underperforming. And India has the potential to be No. 1. Kishore has such a knack to deal with difficult issues to tease out the critical points that matter. What a remarkable teacher he is, although his lessons may be hard to swallow.
