Steve Merry (piano/synths) from BE’LAKOR about Coherence:
"We're excited to share this album after five years of quite intense work on it. It's pushed us in many ways. Coherence has two of our longest ever songs; it has some really substantial instrumental tracks; it's heavy and progressive in places, but still full of the melody that drives our work. The album's lyrics also explore quite different ideas to those of our earlier albums. We look forward to working with Napalm Records on this release and sharing this music with our fans!"

Honestly, I fucking love you Be'lakor. Everything is amazing. New song is beautiful. Album is gonna be fucking insane. Please please, do a Europe tour next year. I want to head bang so bad I get brain damage. Today I was training on the wilderness honing my survival skills, the light started to dwindle, to regress... I know this album is going to my new soundtrack. Fucking loved of breath and bone. Loved all albums, but I feel like my favourite song the dream and the awakening may be beaten this album. Just wanted to add as well, some of these lyrics really remind me of the dyaltov pass incident. And the "supposed" creature they came into contact with. Also, the dream and the awakening reminds me of the missing 411 cases. An entity. Something of neither shape or form... ;).

Be'lakor will never top this. The lyrics are the best I've seen in any song, and each major shift in the instruments matches a narrative change in the story the song is telling. Also, the song is telling a completed story. Not many do that, or can do that effectively. It has a character, the character has the rising action of being on a ticking clock as they all try to grab their treasure, and one notices something on another character. The climax is the internal struggle of whether or not a companion conceals a weapon, the growing insecurity in the main character's mind, and the ultimate decision to save himself against whatever his friend might have. The action falls immediately after as the third runs for his life, and the conclusion is the main character realizing he had murdered someone and searching for something to justify his mistrust. One of my friends even said "But what if it was nothing more than light's deceit and failing sight" is one of the most human experiences ever. All too often, people overthink and speculate about the consequences based on information they think they know. Additionally, I personally think it adds to the lyrics that there is no solution, no conclusion to the character's question of "Did my companion have a weapon concealed". I love the roundabout, wordy description of what happens in the main character's mind. I relate to how each thought would come to fruition. "Til all he knew confirmed his bind" doesn't mean he was right, wrong, or in any sort of peril, but rather that... literally, all he could think of, all he really knew, told him that there was no easy solution to his PERCEIVED problem. Then, "In pebble's bounce, the avalanche. In falling drop, the bursting dam" perfectly encapsulates how one thing leads to another, and ultimately to a complete disaster, but also "From just a flicker in the mind, a thought would twist, consume, and grow" marks how it all starts. This is a parable in the bible, and a general bit of storytelling everywhere, that tiny, insignificant cancers can grow into a life-threatening problem. And, once he's killed his friend, endless thoughts enter his mind from seemingly nowhere. Your mind races, trying to make sense of it all, trying to come to grips with the situation. And, very much in a human manner, to absolve himself of any guilt, remorse, or moral pain, he desperately searches for justification, vindication, and reason to paint himself as not a monster.

I'm surprised how a band can still manage to surprise me with every fucking release of theirs, stretching from Stone's Reach to this single from their upcoming album. This band, man. You're always on the right track from where I'm standing. So, I hope you guys stay safe, continue to have fun, and enjoy yourselves. Regards from a long-time fan hailing from Saudi Arabia.
