Finally, be quiet! have a proper fan design that doesn't have any dumb stuff like the SW3 or PW2 does. I think this fan is a good rival to the Noctua NF-A12x25, though I would still expect the Noctua to have the edge in acoustic quality and noise-normalised performance due to the LCP blade material.
I think this blade geometry is unique, it doesn't look like an actual copy of anything else (A12x25, Gentle Typhoon etc).

I like this fan, when it starts spinning it reduces the overall noise in the room. Absorbs decibels!

Please do some air and aio coolers! Very interested in how the various aio pumps sound, and what an air cooler like thermalright pa sounds like. Your channel is the only one I've come across that covers the acoustics of fans.

Glad you're back! I think the blade geometry is pretty close to the MSI P12, of course with the grooves and a bigger fillet at the bottom edge. I wish they would just give it a proper flange at the exhaust. Round intake is great for getting rid of eddy turbulence but the exhaust should have a flange to properly seal. The 3 big nidec fans on the 2019 mac pro do this very well. To me the SW4 Pro seems kinda overpriced, I'd just get a Phanteks T30. Non pro however should be a good option at 21€ street price in EU. Definitely big improvement over the SW3.

MB makers should create apps that link the Windows sound output volume to the fan control, so you can go "turbo" on the fans above a specified threshhold if the game volume levels and temps warrant...or link to Microsoft Flight Simulator and slave the fan speed to the jet engine turbine setting of the plane I am flying. 😛

"I would still expect the Noctua to have the edge in acoustic quality and noise-normalised performance due to the LCP blade material." In my experience, it really doesn't. This fan can run at least 200 RPM higher while being quieter. The Noctua A12x25, which is one of my favorite fans, is somehow noticeably louder, and is honestly ancient tech by now. That LCP stuff is overrated, but I wouldn't mind them putting it on the SW5. I put three of these as intakes in my PC and one SWP4 140mm as exhaust. Delivers the best airflow my PC has ever had and is quiet while doing so. I'd say this is the best fan on the market rn. Cools a 4090 just fine, my previous SW3 were not capable of it. Also, Noctua really needs to start packing pushpin / anti-vibration mounts with their fans. The pushpin mounts are a BIG reason why I buy the Silent Wings every time. Reduces vibration a lot and are much easier to deal with than the usual long AV mounts that Noctua provides with their regular fans but not with Chromax fans for some dumb reason.

Hey there. Thanks again for your comment, I've finally purchased SW4 High-Speed 140mm. Could you please tell me at what RPM do you use it ? I found it inaudible at 950 rpb and below, but at 1050-1100 they become noticably louder. Still way better and quiter than my stock case 140mm fan at 900 rpm tho. I used anti-vibration mounts with L sign to to the case. Are the results same for you? Which mounts do you use ?
@jgoncalodm
@jgoncalodm Жыл бұрын
I modded all my silent wings, removing even more material from their skeleton frame and pushing them to a fraction of a milimeter of the rad core face, that and float mounting them with the rubber cushions allowed zero vibrations and reduced RPMS for equal temps. Best fans ever had. Noctuas I gave them away on my friends builds. Even my 2010s Zalman ones, or scyth are quieter than noctua. Vacuum cleaner sound, NO THANKS!!

If you watch closely at 2:13 the gap between the fan blades and frame grow as the fan winds down. The material BeQuiet chose is not as good as Noctua's LCP Sterrox, unfortunately.
@ydihtty
@ydihtty Жыл бұрын
Ah, I didn't notice that. It makes sense though, this is part of why bigger gap is needed between the blade and frame. To be fair, the NF-A12x25 also doesn't go up to 3000 RPM, but I guess be quiet! had to compromise the design a bit for low speed to accommodate the high speeds. Bigger gap will generallyresult in worse performance than a smaller gap.

either you have performance or you have silence........the best you could do is fully watercooled with many 480mm radiators on a custom loop.....and if you absolutely need silence, a few cases like the Termaltake Core v21 has holes for "outside water cooling" so you can setup your water cooling in adifferent room....but that's gonna be pricey and it's gonna probably take you a while to setup if you want the best of both ( performance and silence ) you gotta pay the premium bill that comes with it

I am curious about how the bearing part’s size (middle of the fan) relates to fan’s performance. It definitely affects the airflow area, and from my guess maybe the stability of fan blades (e.g. away from wobbling). How do you guys think? Plz leave a comment
@ydihtty
@ydihtty Жыл бұрын
In most fan designs the vast majority of the airflow is towards the tips of the blades, since the tips of the blades are the fastest moving part. You will notice that very high RPM fans have huge hubs (middle of the fan), yet still have great airflow.

My system is so quiet that at this very moment I am insulating my Asus 27 monitor power supply due to its humming sound, that humming that some only listen if they stick their ears in it, I can hear from my chair. That's how quiet the fans in the system beside me are. Tried all brands I could get my hands on. Noctua are some of the loudest, they may have specific cases of marginally better pressure, but the sound is unbearable . Just compare this video with the noctua test ~ a year ago.
