Could you consider providing audio samples from your tests, say at a given dBA mark? That would give us an idea of the sound profile each fan has, as the differences between fans can be pretty huge even at identical noise levels. It would also be nice to know if the fans produce turbulence when attached behind a filter as some fans (like the Silent Wings 3) notoriously do. Noctua fans, for instance, are excellent at not producing turbulence in any application whereas some other fans become incredibly loud when they have a filter in front of them.

I am working on a permanent solution to add those. But it needs to be 100% repeatable at any point in time. So we will need something like a fixed frame with integrated microphone. Adding to that, we had sound tests in our video before. The issue was that not every fan was producing the same frequencies. And in some cases the end result sounded differently in a video than in real life because my mic wasn’t picking it up. So yeah, I’m working on ideas, but it will take some time

@@STSYT In the absense of recordings I would greatly appreciate if you would provide even just your subjective view of how the fans sound (high or low pitch, smooth or jarring, turbulent or quiet, and whether there's audible engine noise).

Thanks for the initial results of these BQ-SW4 fans. Looking forward to the new results update 🥰👍. I do prefer the BQ-SW4 fan style over the SW3. The more rugged industrial look is awesome 🤩

I have a silent loop 2 with the silent wings 3, and I bought three 120mm filters for $6 on aliexpress. Removing the mesh left me with just square plastic shrouds with round hole that are perfect to block all the holes in the corners. The whole AIO performed much better with that air not escaping. It's a shame the square corner are a feature only for the very expensive pro version, where you might not even need the speed selector. I think BQ will put these fans on their Silent Loop 3 lineup (they have to in order to be competitive), but that just drive the whole price up. Imagine for a 360 AIO that you have $120 of fans.

Thanks! For 25-100% benchmarks, just take a look at our noise-to-performance chart. Each line represents a fan from 100% down to 25% fan speed (Right edge of each line is 100, left edge is 25%). If you're looking for 50%, just take the center of the line and there you'll have it. If you're looking for a comparison with a fan that wasn't represented in that particular graph, just ask, I have all the numbers ready

The "Anomaly" at 11:28 might be from motor noise issue due to high-speed modes, Phanteks exibits it as well. However weird that the HS Lightwings curve is more like old SW3, rather than the new SW4 PRO, so maybe the smaller tip distance as well has something to do with that SW4 weirdness under/close to the ambient noise (500-900rpm I'm guessing ?) Let's hope no hidden resonance noise issues pop from the new SW4 fans, as the last time someone tried to reduce tip distance without using LCP material/redesigned the impeller drastically we got noise that doesn't show up on dB/dBA measurements (Arctic P12/P14 resonance at ~950-1150RPM range).
@STSYT
@STSYT Жыл бұрын
Possible. My best guess is that the db meter I am using is just too inaccurate at a certain point. We had a bunch of fans where I could clearly hear a difference, yet my db meter was saying otherwise. On the flipside however, I could also be unable to hear certain frequencies above a certain point. At some point we will invest in one of these 1st class db Meters but for now we'll have to work with the numbers we got. + The difference shown at 11:28 is also quite small. Regular db meters have a tolerance of like 2-3db's. The .3 .5 shown there is actually very very small considering what my db meter can pick up.
@4Leka
@4Leka Жыл бұрын
The Light Wings are using the same fan blades as the Silent Wings 3, just in a different frame. So it's not really surprising that they perform more like the SW3.
@Dogzilla07
@Dogzilla07 Жыл бұрын
@@STSYT That's a whole another can of worms to open xD, margin of error + how much dB it takes for human ears to register difference. And, the odd low frequency and high frequency noise that doesn't get picked up outside noise spectrum frequency analysis. that might annoy some people, or in rare cases be annoying in general (Arctic resonance noise doesn't get picked on any dB meter), [or Blacknoise NB-Eloop issues with obstructions in front of them]. Either way it gets too subjective and personal at that point (not quite as audiophiles with music, but similar), Regular testing is indispensable to filter the top fans but after that when the number of fans is narrowed, for running close or under room ambient noise, it unfortunately boils down to buying all fans, and keeping the ones that sound the best (this worked the best for people with sensitive ears, silence requirements, that I've noticed over the years from overclock forum)

I bought 2 as intake because i got dust filter followed by mesh in front of it. The silent wing pro 4 has very good static pressure and also air flow (CFM). Then for the exhausts i just get 2x silent wing 2 (pwm) Cpu cooler is be quiet dark pro 4. Which flows towards my rear exhaust. Changing stock amd cooler and 3x stock case fan VS darkpro4 + 2x silentwing2 + 2x silentwing4pro Made my cpu 20c cooler and gpu about 14c :)

i think the normal wings 4 (PWM high speed) are better than the pro ! why ? because it's cheaper and the maximum speed is lower (2500 for the normal) (3000 for the pro) above 2500 it will very noisy , so safe your money and get the PWM high speed ones . this is correct for both 140mm and 120mm
@angrysocialjusticewarrior
@angrysocialjusticewarrior Жыл бұрын
Just because a fan can go up to 3000, does not mean you will be running at 3000 all the time. The 3000 will be helpful in the rare times where you are really pushing your system to its limits when gaming. When playing easy games or watching youtube, both fan version can run very low or even turn off to create a silent experience. But since very few people are running an intel i9 + rtx 4090, most people can be fine with a weak 2500 fan.

another copy of Gentle Typhoon, judging by the price they paying patent fee Be quiet! Silent Wings Pro 4 just match Nidec Servo GT fan from Fury X, it took them 7 years to release this, lol Really new fan is only Phanteks T30, rest fans are Nidec GT copy: A12-25, Wings Pro4, TT Toughfan 120, Thermalright TL-B-12 and others Wings Pro 4 definitely better than A12-25 due to design and 1000rpm advantage
