It's time to reclaim your strength and resilience. In this episode of Friday Field Notes, Ryan Michler tackles the urgent need for men to prepare for life's inevitable challenges-whether it's a divorce, job loss, or medical emergency. He discusses the pitfalls of taking the easy way out and the crucial role of mental, physical, and emotional resilience in safeguarding loved ones and thriving amid adversity.
Enough with the complaints! This episode is a wake-up call to adopt a solution-oriented mindset. Ryan explores how constant whining only reinforces weaknesses and stalls progress. He argues for the necessity of surrounding yourself with strong, positive individuals and receiving balanced advice that includes assertive male role models. It’s not about dismissing feminized perspectives but about creating a healthier, more robust masculine identity.

I do agree with all of it. All of that got me out of difficulties and changed my life. Here are a few things that helped me: 1.Say NO. Say NO to everything that isn't GOOD for you. GOOD in the right way... 2.If you say you are going to DO IT, make sure you DO IT no matter what. Think wisely before making that decision. Are you really going to do it? If not, do not say it. 3.Don't let people down, no matter what The same applies here: think wisely before saying you are going to be there for someone. If you're unsure, don't promise.

I’ve been in a runt lately and prayed God spoke to me and helped me understand how to improve it. This video popped up and I listened to it while driving back home. Thank you for being a vessel of God. Keep doing you brother!

This is a powerful FFN sir. This is the majority of all of those difficult and uncomfortable things men most likely don't want to hear, but NEED to not just hear, but implement and act on! Also, like you, I'm so SICK of the softness, the complaining, the tearing each other down, and the never ending aspersions and ad hominem attacks just because you speak the truth or refuse to coddle someone's mental illness. We, as a nation, and we, as a world (mostly), I believe tried with the best of intentions to becoming a more safe, accepting, and tolerant place that wasn't so harsh and dog-eat-dog. Our founding documents make it very clear that our intentions were pure and based on empathy and respect, even for the weakest and least capable amongst us. Unfortunately though, like all well intended systems and charities there are many who will seek to only take advantage and abuse other's good nature and kind intent. We need a reckoning... something to happen where there's simply no room for weakness, softness, or time to coddle. Yes, this is a "strong man" or "tough guy" mindset, but hardship and tragedy is an amoral situation that doesn't take into account the capacity or ability of those it happens to, and only strength and resilience can defeat the monster of surviving a harsh reality. I do not want whatever this catastrophe or cataclysm might be to happen because there will obviously be untold amounts of suffering, but I still believe we need something to come along to cull the heard, and to remind us as a people why strength, endurance, and the whole long list of masculine traits are SO paramount and SO important.

Stoicism is not about suppression of emotions. It's accepting the emotions how they come n choosing not to let em rule you

I think you’re right it’s been some time since I’ve taken western philosophy but I can say the notion of just suppressing our emotions never ends well. In order to maintain strong minds and bodies we absolutely must attend to “all” of these things sadness, pain, anger, feeling unloved. As men we tend to plow through life and when we are older the regrets come. I say accept that sh*t but also work through it! Had I not suppressed years of anxiety and depression I wouldn’t be taking medication today to reset the brain chemistry.

On 3/23 I had one of those convos. I chose to do what was extremely difficult, and in the past I wouldn't have. To my surprise, the outcome was very positive.

This message is exactly what I needed to hear at this time. I can’t stop complaining about my job and I can’t even stand listening to me. Diversity equity and inclusion has limited my opportunities where I work so I complain about the DEI crap constantly. I just came across this channel. This guy sounds like a patriot.👍🏻

Could not agree with you more. The biggest problems with our world today are weak men and entitled women. Weak men cause this problem by allowing them to get away with everything. Women on the other hand have no repercussions for their actions and cause real abuse and damage. When they ditch the weak man who entitled them and allowed this behavior, they just leave and find another one and repeat the cycle. The moment you speak the truth about this, or call them out on their behavior, they use these modern terms like words or violence. They are only effective if you allow them to be. Great work! Thank you for what you do

The bottom line of his mesage here is that we as men tend to be more direct in our actions than women and hence we should push forward with our beliefs (within the limits of respect for others) rather than being pushed around. And, believe it or not, women respect that a lot.
