Proof of how amazing Bea Arthur was... she could still shine even in complete shit like the Star Wars Christmas Special

I saw The Nostalgia Critic review of the special, and I agree with him that Bea Arthur is the only one who was trying in the whole damn thing and the the entire special should've been about her.

The Bea Arthur character in this clip is so memorable that Lucasfilm decides to re-canonize her in the new novel 'From A Certain Point of View'.

I don't understand how much trashing this song gets. I absolutely love it, and it is a moving, touching, sad song. Bea Arthur is perfect singing it, and it harkens back to her Threepenny Opera days. A classic!

If the special was just about Bea Arthur and the cantina I would actually like this special a lot more!!!

The Nostalgia Critic was right. The Star Wars Holiday Special should have been about Bea Arthur as a signing bartender in a cantina on Tatooine.

Say what you want about the Holiday Special, but Bea Arthur's performance was absolutely stellar and was the one shining moment of this whole special. She elevated her character through her performance into something worthy. Amazing actress.

You know this song is pretty good when you think about it.

This was actually good. If the special had been set in this bar with Han, Leia, Chewie and others stopping by, it would have been decent, campy as hell, but decent. Not something Lucas, a man who thought Jar Jar was a good idea, wants buried. Instead, we got dialogue-heavy scenes all in Wookie with no subtitles. What kind of drugs does it take to green light that?

Deadpool thinks this is the best part of the movie.

So apparently Bea Arthur's character is canon, she appeared in the book "Complete Locations" (2016) and then in a short story from the new book "From a Certain Point of View" SO WE GOT BEA ARTHUR IN OUR STAR WARS!!!

This is proof that "A New Hope" should be a Broadway musical, LOL. Bea's song can take place when Luke and pals exit the cantina (we just change the time of day in that scene to late night). And since the fabulous Bea is currently doing her nightclub act in heaven, we would just cast someone with maturity and great pipes in this role, like Bebe Neuwirth. Come on, fans, isn't that the only thing Star Wars hasn't conquered-- the Great White Way?

Why couldn't this special have been just about Bea Arthur? While the idea that the Empire micromanages on this extreme of a level is just as absurd as that shot of the Wookies WALKING THROUGH SPACE...this was better than Wookie Norman Rockwell. And also...Harvey Korman, no!
