We pulled into the homestead where we got some information and maps on the station, then headed up to ‘Red Bluff’. Our expectations of Red Bluff were quite high, as alot of people had recommended it to us.
Well we’re here to say... we LOVED it!
Arriving at reception, we asked the caretaker what could he offer us. As we knew it was off peak and could see alot of empty sites. He offered us a beach shack for only an extra $5 per head a night. As apposed to $15 per head for pure bush/beach camping, we had a nice lovely shack.
Of course we inspected it before agreeing but it was quite cosy and he assured us, it was the only shack which had lights. Oh la la fancy. We settled into our shack for 3 nights. It had 2 double beds plus a bunk bed, communal picnic table, some shelves, fire pit and its own private access to the beach. Oh plus lights of course.
There were 4 windows which opened up on the shack, which made it very breezy during the day, and provided great views out onto the ocean. We admired the view from our outside bench seat, where we ate alot of our meals from. Plus when the wind blew up, we could all sit around inside and play some cards.
Red Bluff
So whats here to do you may ask? Red Bluff is known for a popular surfing break. It has some really cool caves to explore. A large ridge to climb up, and if your lucky you might get a few bars of telstra. We saw countless goats, a handful of whales, plenty of fish etc. You can literally walk both directions for miles .
Red Bluff even has a small store, which sells smoothies, toasties and surfboards. Just have to check the times on the blackboard. As we were off-peak, it was only open for 1 hour during the day, which was fair enough. Why stay open with such little crowds. There was also plenty of drop toilets around, so you don’t have to be self contained.
Tip - Make sure you stock up on drinking water in Carnarvon, there is none in Quobba.

Stunning spot and great video. Was there in 2005, Red Bluff is also very famous in terms of Australian naval history. Some of the German survivors from the Kormoran, after it had sunk the HMAS Sydney in WWII, came ashore there. Relics (including an old pistol) have been found there.

Hi Love all your videos. You seem to get to all the amazing spots. My question for you is can we have a bit more info on the tracks in and the camp sites. Such as did you air down your car and van, any hard or tight spots where you may get stuck or scratch or damage the car and van. I would love to stay at these spots but having a new van my wife would have a fit if I drove in and scratched or damaged her new pride and joy. Yes I know its there to be used to get to these amazing spots . Just a bit more info on access would be great. Also we travel alone and don't have winches, bullbars etc due to weight restrictions. So any info on hard spots to get thru to get there would be great

Been to Quobba many times but never Red Bluff. Great to get a good look at it. Did you go to Quobba camp south of the Blowholes? We are trying to find out what is happening to the shacks there.

great production sparkies, hey whats the cost of red bluff? and Kurt have you got a ND filter for the drone as would really help the overexposure?
@Sparkysontheloose
@Sparkysontheloose 5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Lee it's $18 per person per night and extra for the shack. We have a polerized filter on it for the water shots. $30 on eBay bloody worth it. Haven't combated the sun light yet though.

Hi, great video. Is it ok to travel around WA with your dog? I'm about to go on a trip, and I was wondering if is fine to travel with our dog or can be problematic, as I guess they are not allowed in many natural parks. Could you please advise? Thanks in advance.
@Sparkysontheloose

You can do WA but yes the national parks are an issue. Plenty of spots where you can go so id say go for it!

Crazy camping prises now at the bluff almost too expensive for average family. I used to pay three dollars a night now it 35 per person to camp or 55 per person for a shack

Hi the both of you. I love the videos. I have just ordered the brake controller your running with. It will be here next week. Carolyn brother in broom. You will not miss him. Is wife 2 foot six and he 6 foot 5 inchs. Ha ha. I know you past each other and its a big country. I think he's missing home but we know he is loving it. He loves mountain biking but 6 foot 5 he spends time been thrown off. Check out SHANE'Oz Gold. Next i have been sewing cushions for the van. Its a oldey but it going to do me for awhile. I have been fixing the wiring. The only thing now the switch board. For an old elec fitter it should be no problems. I can not wait. My ex boss say it lovely were you are and driving on the beach is great. Russell

Hey Russ! Hopefully you will love the brake controller, I'm still loving mine. Haven't come across him yet but as big as the country is we will prob cross paths. I'll check out that channel. Hopefully the wiring is straight forward and nobody has played with it previously. Cheers mate 🤙

There should be no problems with the controller. Its new in the box. I have worked in the field for years. Electrical and I have adv diploma in electronics. For SHANE'Oz he has the minelab 4500 running a 17' nugget finder coil. Hes a bit deaf but the setting on his machine is something. I have been trained as a vehicle testing officer and at times had to drive all sorts. I can drive bushmaster. That will give you a hint in what i do. Russell
