This is cool! I agree that a system like this is sorely needed for beach vb. Especially for players who don't play in tournaments because the range can be very wide. I think your new version (yes/no) is better than the original. Is there a reason you're keeping the old one around? I think it would be better to just have one version and keep updating it. I remember you said you play tennis so I assume you're taking some inspiration from the tennis system which seems great. I like the evaluations that talk about different aspects of the game that are now in your skill set like in the tennis system "3.0 Beginner-Intermediate Player: Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes" rather than ones that compare you to other players in the game like how reliably you can get a kill because that changes depending on who you're playing against. I think having a defined criteria for each 0.5 level would be better than a range. Just my thoughts but you're the one who actually made it so props to you!

Heyy thanks! So yes, the chart idea was heavily tennis influenced! And I like your feedback about using wording that doesn't depend on the opponents skills, I will definitely try to incorporate this when I update the charts..! Regarding why the original chart still exists, it's funny because you actually got to it later in your comment - exact description for every 0.5 rather than a range. I have gotten feedback from others that they like the original better, for the reason that you can with more clarity get your rating all the way down to which 0.5 you are. So that's the main reason I have both, they both have advantages. I kinda like the yes/no better because it's somehow intuitive and it is more compact, but the original has its benefits as well.. Another reason for the originals existence is that I have a vision of a chart that includes a lot of the ranking systems from worldwide so that they can be compared to eachother. If you look to the right of the original, you can see that I incorporated CBVA (California) ratings into the system, but it could be expanded to the right as far as one wanted to add more systems, like german systems, brazilian systems etcetc. Would make it even easier to compare players that know what level they are playing back home. Not sure if this is necessary though, but I might do that one day we will see. Hope this makes sense, and again thanks for feedback it is super helpful! But.. I do see a possibility that a "yes/no"-chart with more clarity on exact which 0.5 you are could be the ultimate system.. And once that is designed and some wordings changed and some other feedback I have gotten incorporated, one could just scratch all the other charts and call it a day - the perfect chart has been created.

@@LearnBeachVolleyballFast Makes sense. I did like having the CBVA reference. But I found once people are on the CBVA scale, it's pretty clear what they're level is. While players who don't play tournaments the level varies widely. Never seen the other rating systems though, sounds interesting!

@@talanky Yess exactly.. Or let's say, once they are on the CVBA scale, it is pretty clear to other Californians what their level is.. They come and tell a Swedish player that they are a AA player and they might as well say they play beach volleyball.. It means nothing to a Swedish player, likewise a Californian player won't have any idea how good a Swedish player that has 250 ranking points and plays challenger tournaments is.. While another Swedish player will understand that information! 😅 So the goal is to build a bridge between the local ranking systems, especially useful in spots around the world where players from several different places around the world gather and play against eachother! 😇

I'm assuming this happens in tennis as well, but everyone here seems to get stuck in BB. There are AA players playing in BB tournaments. Sometimes they're coming back after a break, sometimes they're nursing an injury. Even despite that, BB seems to be where everyone ends up skill wise. It might be correct and similar to other things like tennis and chess, but I thought it would be nice to somehow be able to split up the massive BB entrants into another category.

Hmm, interesting..! So, I have never lived in a place where "BB" tournaments was a thing, so I stuggle translating this comment into something that I'll understand completely.. My guess is that this BB level you are referring to, is around 4.0 to 4.5 in my chart? static1.squarespace.com/static/5c3a45bdb40b9d7ce4916a0f/t/63b3298202d97a0c49738993/1672685955778/UBVROriginalQuicklink.pdf This guess is based on that's roughly the level where I think most players are, or "get stuck"!
