Time to install the brand new expensive OEM ESCM (Electronic Suspension Control Module).
Will this take care of the "SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM" Warning?
OEM GM SPS2 Factory Programming is required.
Even after programming, Calibration is required with the factory GM Tech2Win scanner!
As Scotty Kilmer says: "Gotta fight computers with computers!"

I think it's terrible and shouldn't even be required. There's no reason why they couldn't design everything on the car to be programed or calibrated from right there on the dash or the center screen. It should all be built in. I don't like that they have everything hidden behind a pay wall like this. Maybe it's good for money, but it's terrible for the customers IMO.

Its crazy of prices go up but wages stay the same in most fields. I run my own business so charging alittle more isn't a huge deal but still has its problems. My wife works at a hospital and its almost insulting the bump in pay she got. I don't even want to mention school loans. This is the first time in my life I've seen prices skyrocket across the board. I remember years ago gas might raise then next year food goes up alittle but this time it was a slap in the face. I just can't believe that everything and I do mean everything has gone up.

Coupled with the on line programming makes the job complete. Quite a circle jerk Ivan. Even with numerous high end aftermarket tools, GM makes sure they get their cut. Pico scope gets you on the path but is unable to finish. Too many diagnostic tools out there that just "won't or can't" complete the job. I feel your pain. Retired from Gm service 5 yrs ago, had an escm make me chase my tail for quite a while. Intermittently had high internal resistance within the module. Finally it stayed broken long enough for me to test across the comm, terminals with an ohm meter. Exhale and move on.

Hi Ivan, thanks for your educational video's, keep them coming! Are all 4 suspension sensor connectors identical on this Chevy? If yes, maybe swapping them randomly would recognise the sensor replacement, force the ESCM module to re-learn and automatically clear the C0558-4A code. But if the sensors are simple 3-wire potentiometers, this would probably not do the trick. Looks like the internal voltage reference circuit gives off the wrong voltage. If the circuit board is not covered by epoxy coating, I would start with a visual inspection of the module. There could be issues caused by vibration like broken tracks or solder joints. Even water intrusion could be the cause considering the location of the module. If all seems okay, it can be a faulty semiconductor, leaking/shorted capacitor or other component. Would love to see the faulty module opened and inspected/diagnosed by an electronics engineer. Greetings from Crete in Greece.

So much complication - The oil-based suspension-system on my series of Citroen cars - a system invented c 70 years ago, was a delight - no electronics involved until 2000 - ish - only replacement/recharging of suspension spheres after several years of use. Fully support that. I had three Citroen C5 station wagons in succession and they were amazing cars with great suspension, powerful engines and a very comfy ride. The only issues I faced was: frozen diesel in a cold winter night (nobody's fault), two cracked door windows because they froze in place and the window actuator was too powerful (both fixed w/o costs due to warranty) and one weird exhaust partial blockage after inspection that cleared itself with a bang on the freeway (I guess something stuck in the exhaust). The suspension was simply fabulous and absolutely maintenance free. I'm really sad that Citroen discontinued it, it was that good.

Every time I program a vehicle, jump thru all the same hoops and finally get it done I can't help but wonder how it's so easy to do a cell phone update and it's free in comparison. It's not data volume, Cell Phones hold a lot of data also... I think it's just because by law they can make it difficult for the aftermarket, so they do. I guess if the law didn't force them to allow us, we wouldn't be able to at all...Which brings us to needing to have a locksmith license for newer vehicles now. :/ Nice work Ivan! the S/W subscriptions were pretty minor compared with YOUR LABOR HOURS. Always intriguing how (as you say) "convoluted" things can get. BTW.. in my industry we had a standing procedure when connecting or disconnecting any connectors to always inspect. LOOK CAREFULLY AT BOTH MATING HALVES FOR: (-1-) Bent Pins; (-2-) Pushed back pins; and in your field (-3-) Green crusties. This includes new assemblies. After inspection it was critical to NOT FORCE THE CONNECTORS TOGETHER. No, "hammer to fit and paint to match!" ADD: Did the customer just not have a spare tire that would then offer ADDITIONAL mechanical protection for the replaced module? You suggested they removed it for you but I wonder if it's permanently missing? Just my 2c.

yeah, it's hard to make any conclusions when everything is on a CAN network like that; things can reset each other in weird ways. Or sometimes there is a hierarchy-- Like a Onstar module ties to the radio module, which first hooks into the BCM, which also passes through the gauge cluster before it ever gets to the ECM. So some will have some controls over the module below it; and for no obvious reason: and will be different from one company to the next. This CAN network is a little different in how everything has a passthrough, so they are all equally on the network- so it's a little different. But computers can glitch and still be fine when you reset them-- so you can't always trust it. Like Ivan said, make sure you can repeat the problem over and over, and then you can be certain.

Its seems like a scam. You have to pay for one program to calibrate the module and then pay for another one to clear codes. They get you coming and going.

Would the tools Pro not allow you to clone the old module and then reinstall it on the new module and code it

I was wondering if he could have provided a 5 volt reference from another source straight to the sensor, would it have worked.

When the module gets installed does it require the air out of suspension system so it's at zero??? Must be something in installation process from manufacturer.....

Wow. Cannot believe how clunky looking that Tech 2 software is. Reminds me of what old DOS software looked like. I guess if it still works and people pay for it, then why update the appearance?

It still bothers me that the CAN problem isn't really solved. Yeah it could be the onstar but it wasn't consistent. Seems like there was more going on. May not be enough to justify spending all day chasing ghosts but don't think the CAN problem ever really got fixed. Did you plug that back in after changing the ESCM? Too many variables.

Pretty cool that you had a tech 2 on the pc, I wonder if the VCMI from my ultra would work as a pass through for that ?

Especially in a salty environment. I have coated my modules with fluid film to keep water from corroding the seal and letting water in.

Well answering my own question, they don't care, because by the time things corrode and start having problems it's long out of warranty and probably on its second or third owner.
