In this video we are traveling to Princes' Islands near Istanbul - the only place in Istanbul where you can swim and enjoy the beach vacation. Princes' Islands are located in the Sea of Marmara and are less than 2 hours away from center of Istanbul. We will tell you how to get to the islands, show you the best beaches, and share the rare find of a restaurant with the best sunset view on Adalar.

Is it possible to enjoy the sunset view and the same evening go back to Istanbul with a ferry?

Last ferry from Adalar to Istanbul departs at 6 pm. So it’s more likely to catch the sunset when you’re already on the boat, which is great in its own way:)

What is the name of the last island that contains beach clubs and rented bikes?

Hi there! This island is named Büyükada and the ferry station is called Adalar. It’s the biggest island in the archipelago and has the most activities. Are you planning to go there for one day or also to stay overnight?

Hi there! July is going to be a hot month in Istanbul and it would sure be nice to dip into a refreshing sea:) Even though Istanbul is located on the sea, it doesn’t have beaches in the central area of the city. You would have several options and they would all require a couple of hours to get to the beach. One would be to follow our advise mentioned in this video and visit the Princes Islands. There you’ll find beach clubs, some of which will have entertainment for kids like water slides etc. Another option would be to go a bit north towards the Black Sea - the water is a bit Calder there, but I’ve heard they have nice beaches as well. Look up Bamboo Beach or Kumköy area. An additional option would be to fly to the Mediterranean shore, but I’m assuming you’re limited in time and might find this too much of a hassle. aren’t there any free public beaches in buyukada that the tourists can access or is it mandatory to enter through a beach club ?

Pretty much all the beaches are private. The island has a lot of rocks and there’s no sandy beaches, and it’s hard to get there without a buggy or a ferry. So they do charge you some fee for that
