Just came across this and I’m obsessed! I do have a question though! Can we use any size bead or does it have to be this size? I normally work with czech glass beads so I’m curious if those will work.
@beadaholique3 жыл бұрын
Hi Alyssa, glad you like these bracelets! Overall I'd say these technique we used for them are very versatile, you can use them with most single hole beads without much adjustment. Smaller beads might call for a smaller charm and clasp, but that's really a matter of taste. In these bracelets we use 8mm gemstone beads and 5mm spacer beads, so if you're interested in that spaced look I'd suggest starting with that ratio and use spacers that are around 2/3rds the size of your larger beads.

Hello, some of my metal beads with silver tone turn brown. I got these "silver beads" for like three dollars in 50% off and sanded one of them and saw its silver inside. Will it go brown? How can i tell if they will keep color?
@beadaholique3 жыл бұрын
Discoloration with silver beads can either be caused by a thin silver platting wearing off and exposing the base metal, or by the silver tarnishing. Tarnish tends to look black on silver, so what you're describing sounds like beads that have lost their plating. If these new silver tone beads can be sanded roughly without exposing any brown then they probably aren't coated with silver and you shouldn't have to worry about them turning brown later. If they tarnish and turn dark you can try polishing them softly with a bit a dish soap.

Love your videos. I'm new to this. But if you want to make a bracelet with gem stones and a charm, do you have to use wire? Does opelon not work for this?
@beadaholique Жыл бұрын
Hi! You can use Opelon but it really depends on how smooth the gemstone bead holes are and how heavy the gemstones are. In some instances, gemstones can cut the opelon causing it to break or can be so heavy that they stretch out the cord.

@@beadaholique is it okay for them to remain broken inside?
@beadaholique3 жыл бұрын
@@aasimghani5553 Sorry you're having trouble with your crimping. I don't recommend leaving a broken crimp on the bracelet unless it's just a quick project with inexpensive beads, something you won't mind loosing when it comes apart later. Here are a few recommendations for next time though: Something that might help is using wire protectors, these can take some of the strain off of the crimp tube so that they don't break after crimping, and we have them in stainless steel: beadaholique.com/products/sterling-silver-wire-thread-protectors-loops-045-inch-10 And something else we definitely recommend is these Xuron crimp pliers. These are the best we've used when it comes to not breaking crimps, they have a V shaped indentation instead of the U you usually see, that make a better fit for the wire and doesn't crack the crimps as easily: beadaholique.com/products/xuron-4-in-1-crimping-pliers-works-on-1-2-and-3mm-crimps

@@starrspoter That person might have been talking about wire measured with the gauge system. With gauges the numbers go higher as the wire gets thinner. The millimeter measurements you mentioned are another way to measure wire thickness. A lot of people find it easier than the gauge system. Both measure the same thing and you can convert measurements from one to the other if you find any wire marked Ga instead of mm.
