Thanks for the great tips! Would love to see a tutorial on how to "clean up" a well used and dinged up bench block! I've been using some fine grit sand paper to get rid of the rust spots and minor scratches. But is there method to get out the little divots that occur from normal hammering? What tools are needed and can you use your flexshaft with specific attachments to accomplish this? Sorry for all the questions. I am hoping I'm not the only one who wonders about this! : )

Hi Julie. I have heard that a grinding wheel (large, not something on your flex shaft) will do the trick. Do you know anyone that does large construction work.

Hi, you see the bumps that you got in the middle of the coin ? this is due because when you polish you have to go through the coin, not in circles, you have to make horizontal all through and then vertical all through. check out my tutorials tomorrow ill show this on " viernes de tips" even if is in Spanish you'll get the idea! best regards!

I was wondering if you could put a sheet of paper or a very thin felt or cloth or rubber sheet under the coin before hammering, to keep it from scratching in the first place?????? I've never tried metal work, but the metal on metal was driving me crazy when it surely can be avoided. Please tell me if I'm wrong, I'm here to learn.

I use paper under my piece to prevent scratching. I also just finished watching a video of someone using electrical tape and it looks even better.

your kit referenced in this video says it's not recommended for aluminum. I am having this issue on my aluminum blanks, and secondly my bracelets are also getting scratches I cant seem to remove. Do you have a video on removing scratches from double sided stamping from aluminum blanks?Is there one on polishing aluminum? I even use 3000 grit sandpaper and I still see the lightest of scratches.

Aluminum is so soft that scratches just are inevitable. Normally we recommend using steel wool to create a brushed look on the metal to mask the scratches on the surface. You can't really remove them. I have included a link to a video below that talks about working with aluminum blanks. www.beaducation.com/product_videos/159-working-with-aluminum

Hello, I need a little help. I went to your link for the supplies, but it lists three types of radial discs, a mini screw, and a mandrel and three types of polishing wheels. Do I need to purchase each one of these, and where can I purchase the drill (?) tool shown in the video?
@beaducation
@beaducation Жыл бұрын
yeah, the link just shows the radials that we used in this video but you can find all the radials (including a mix pack) here beaducation.com/a/search?type=product&q=radial We don't sell that drill but you can search for Flex Shaft drill on google and you will find lots. You can also use any rotating drill like a Dremel or even the household drill that you may have hanging around.

Also, I’m left handed. If I held that wire brush thing with my left hand it’s the ends of the bristles will be pointing towards me. Does that matter?
@beaducation
@beaducation 6 жыл бұрын
In the case of being left handed, you would need to load the bristles the other way so the bristles will flow away from you.
@MakeupMobster
@MakeupMobster 6 жыл бұрын
Beaducation how would I do that though? The brush only comes one way?

I’m just curious but why would you want to fix scratches only to end up creating weird dimples? Yes it was shiny but there was all dimples.
@beaducation
@beaducation 6 жыл бұрын
You are right, there are a few dimples. We just didn't keep working the metal. Keep at it and it will smooth out.

Beaducation God, reading back my comment, I wish I would’ve worded it so I didn’t sound like such an a-hole. My apologies for that. Sometimes you write things and don’t realize how they sound! Thank you for taking out the time to make these videos. They are very helpful. I’m sorry if they came off rude. Thank you. So you’re saying if you kept working it, eventually the dimpled parts would’ve been smoothed? I don’t know if you mentioned this back at the beginning but what metal are you working with here. (My video started in the middle) also, do you have any videos about working with alkeme? I am having difficulties getting a nice finish.
@MakeupMobster
@MakeupMobster 6 жыл бұрын
Beaducation I find that certain metals almost get more messed up the more you try to fix them, Alkeme being one.
@beaducation
@beaducation 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, keep with it and it should smoothen (is that a word!?) out. Also, sometimes the lighting in the videos hit the metal in a weird way and it looks odd. But I for sure see what you are talking about :)
@MakeupMobster
@MakeupMobster 6 жыл бұрын
Beaducation ha ha!! Smoothen. Yeah it’s a word. My autocorrect thinks so at least! I understand what you’re saying about the lighting. Cameras also pick up things and can create shadows and stuff we don’t really see with the naked eye.

If you have a harbor freight nearby you can get a flex shaft for around $50. They also sell a rotary (Dremel) that comes with a flex shaft attachment. If you’re just polishing and finishing metal blanks it’s good enough.
