Do those first few rows of peyote stitch give you fits? Here's a way to use the beads you already have to create a starter strip that will make future peyote pieces a breeze to begin!

Wonderful video! Four-in-one - how to make and use a starter strip, ladder stitch and peyote stitch. It is indeed magic, especially since I can use the beads I've had for decades and never actually wanted to use lol. Thanks so much!

This is a great recycle idea. I can use the "not quite right colors" making my starter strip. I have a few that I bought online that just were not the right shade I needed for my project. Thanks!

This is a 3-in-1 video for me!! 1. I now have a great peyote-starter (my most dreaded stitch ever to start), 2. I learned the Brick Stitch, 3. I found a nice use for those not-so-uniform cheap beads! Mine is not so pretty, but I got rid of some of those "bargain" beads and just made sure to only use the same size/shape on the end that matters. Thank you SO much for this video, Jill!!! Being able to do peyote will open a whole new door in bead weaving for me!

Inny and outy, I never thought belly button terms would be used in a beading video! lol I love this idea. Nearly all my work is in peyote, either beaded bezels or tapestry so this will be really useful. I have no issue using the traditional method of starting but I think this will be easier, less fiddly to do :)

I really have never had any issues with starting peyote, so I almost didn't watch this. I'm glad I did. I don't often do a real long peyote start, but I can see where this would be good for that. So easy to get lost stringing row 1 & 2. Also, I just did a tubular peyote piece was really wide and I know even though the beads are right, I twisted the thread a couple times when adding row 3. Not exactly sure how to adapt this for the piece I'm thinking of, but I'm going to give it a try. I think it could be done. Love your videos!

Finally, the answer! I've bought those Quick Start Peyote cards but they are too small for my beads and don't work. I've been fumbling for days giving up on first five rows that look horrible, and keep restarting many times. I can see why you use the brick stitch, to create the ups and downs. Going to do this tonight, there's hope, thank you.
@krisbragg9434

excellent advice. Quite often I would end up making the first two rows in two different colors so that I could determine which was my first/second and which was my third rows. then I'd end up taking them out of my finished design if it didn't blend.
