I don't think the Carlton dance one counts. He took several inspiritional sources and blended them together to make his own thing. Lots of people do that and when they come up with a mixture of something that works, they call it their own new invention and we don't question that. This is no different. It's not like he directly used Eddie Murphy's dance moves on the show and called them his own. He used it as an inspiration for his own dance and blended the style with something else, thereby creating something new.

Personally i never took Bear's show as proof of his stamina over a time period in the environment to prove "he could do it". He shows how to survive specific situations. Even if he stays in a five star hotel between lessons, it doesn't change the effectiveness of the lesson.

I remember the Easy Off Bang adverts. The actors performing in them were always looking like they were forcing out complements to the product despite knowing it was rubbish.
