Beamng bring to us a feeling that others Sim don't do. FEAR. You fear the car You fear the track You fear to crash that none of other games do. We all are 'less brave' when playing Beamng.

If you just take the wing off you can immediately feel the downforce you just removed. I think you just don't feel the downforce a ton normally due to the dated suspension and insane power.

Yep, downforce absolutely works in this game. Even in this car going down the main straight you can both see and feel the car getting pushed into the track. It's most obvious in small, light cars with a big spoilers - the Blackpool Sandshark mod that was released recently is a good demonstration of how effective a rear spoiler can be. Most of the configs don't have one by default, and as a result the rear keeps sliding out causing me to spin, but with the spoiler the car feels noticeably more stable. I sometimes feel Ermin expects a bit too much from aerodynamic downforce. Like with the Bruckell Bastion video, expecting that small rear spoiler and front splitter to add any significant downforce to a big heavy car is unrealistic.

Man, every single video you upload is difficult to completely watch through to the end. The way you talk about the feeling of a car, the immersion and sometimes even emotion that comes with sim racing makes me want to violently (respectfully tho) throw everything I'm doing in life to and run straight to my sim rig to experience all that you're describing myself... I'd love to spend some time optimizing a lap time for the Nordschleife in this monstrous race car after fixing the brake tune, even if it could really use more tuning than just that lol. The stock config SBR4 Hill Climb could hit 6'42 with just gear tuning, so I think this might be the first official car that can go even faster around the ring!

@@trystan3130 not 100%, i mean there is a reason i had a config named "turbo killer" and not as an 80's reference it had speed and cornering as well as controllability with keyboard alone all topped off with a sweet spot on acceleration, in all honestly i think its more down to the tune than the car itself

@@_blood_moon_proto_1500 of course yeah, a good tune to your preference really helps, I've done it quite a few times on the sunburst and sbr4. I am glad they increased the absolute top speed of the bolide if you get what I mean.

Looks similar to group 5 in raceroom! 5: 15 Ive seen the exact same crash several times in a crash compilation of a rain race on nords. It happened only to the old 90s cars without electronics. Makes beam ng look very realistic in my eyes.

To get the real feel of the car, and the g-forces, look from the cockpit view, and disable the wheel in the car in options. press 3 on your numpad to widen your FOV to aroundy 70(makes it feel alot faster). These settings helped me alot. Hope it does for you too!

FOV is something of personal preference, so while im not gonna say that you are wrong, you have to keep in mind both the size and aspect ratio of your monitor to choose a FOV to use. Just try adjusting it a couple of times and do a run on every sertting you try, then choose what works best for you. I personally play with the FOV closer to 80

for sim racing u use a fov calculator, i run my sims at 30 to 40, usually around 35. this is so you can get the correct amount of speed and distance judgment. watch a vid on it :)

@@SSmallwood Wow you must have a large monitor. I have a 32" monitor, and if i did 30-40 fov the feel of speed would fully disappear. It would be zoomed in waaaay too much. Edit: I just tried the calculator and it recommends me 73.

Hey Ermin, great video as always! A couple pieces of advice for you: First of all when you make a custom tune for a car, there are four tabs at the top of your screen, Parts, Tuning, Color, and Save. You can go to Save and name your configuration, and find it again later in the vehicle selection screen. The other piece of advice is that BeamNG has a built-in Replay saving function. You can go into controls configuration and find all the keybinds to use it. If you use it you won't have to complete and entire separate run just for a different camera angle, and since the car is driving itself in the replay, you can get some really cool 3rd person angles. Hope these were helpful!

You can try the AI tool, and spawn lot of Group 5 Civetta on the Nurb. Then set speed limit to 300km/h , and make AI flee from you. It will make like a real race game and thats insane

The AI isn't mapped to this track unfortunately, it's up to the modder to add the AI lanes

The trick with the Bolide is to drive it VERY smoothly. It is extremely touchy to power on (Due to being overpowered in most variants for its weight and tires) and loves to do sudden, extreme oversteer on power off.

The external perspective puts the speed into perspective much better, all in all the stock tunes for things kind of aren't perfect or even good at all sometimes, but that's the fun of BeamNG imo, the devs give us these glorious blank slates and we do our best to find time in their setups and just have fun, rallying in BeamNG is so fun because of this and unlike so many other games, it gives absolutely no shits about you, the roads aren't perfect, the dirt trails have ruts and bumps that throw the car all over the place, and to be fast, you just have to die and die and die again until you remember to brake earlier for that corner so you don't hit that one bump, run wide, clip a rock hidden in some grass, lose a wheel, and fly off a cliff. Some of the lower tunes of the Bolide have better setups, and I think they might tweak that group 5 one specifically because it seems to be especially bad, but who knows, maybe that was the idea, make it this crazy scary thing to drive fast, so you gotta really work for it and tune it yourself if you want to go even faster, some people hate that, but I love it.

idk if anyone has done so before commenting on the way the car handles but its the tires. i noticed earlier all the configs of the bolide for me at least are running standard street tires even the rally spec. change out the tire compound and it handles (almost) perfectly

That's the thing. Half of BeamNG is just tuning the gear for what you want from it. I especially love playing online and racing people with my presets, or being a goof and drifting an SUV with a popping exhaust

@@dmtracing56 I think it's something along the lines of seriously having too much grip for their tune, or not enough grip for their tune. More grip = higher limits and higher limits means less time to fix a mistake thus you seem to screw up more, but less grip just means you have no control at all. I think for the most part there's nothing wrong with the new tires and wheels, it's just tuning, however there very well could be, idk how all of the tire stuff functions but it indeed seems like some tires are better than others on more levels than just how much grip or contact patch they have.

@@Maximum_777 well they have different purposes for one like slicks are basically only good in a dry track setting and have unmatched grip but if you manage to kick it out its harder to save when it hooks back up. also the rally config having standard street tires makes a huge deal since they dont hook up very well in the dirt unlike the rally spec tires that are available. but tire selection does honestly come down to getting the most contact patch possible unless you want a more drift happy back end and in that case just bump the tire PSI up

You can tune brake bias in the vehicle tuning and if you enable screenshot on save or enable custom vehicle viewing in the vehicle selector it will let you select it for time trials

The game has a debug mode where you can see visually (and possibly numerically) how much downforce and uplift is created over the various surfaces, it would be interesting to see how the bolide's aero works (or not!)

@@Incommensurabilities You can literally see parts of the car bend under aero pressure when you drive faster. Aero is working, it's just not set up properly on the car. You can make cars stick to the ground with downforce.

@@derbigpr500 lil late but had to stop in and agree, beamng has surprisingly good aero physics, I think it has to do more with the actual body kit on the bolide, it is modeled after an old old kit where aero wasn't as known as today so I could even be intentionally bad in a way, people have made plenty of working aircraft in beamn using just the aero physics after all

You should try the group 5 in Raceroom and do a lap around the Nordschleife, would be interesting. I think these cars are even more deadly in Raceroom! But yeah the understeer and the snaps when the turbo kicks in are realistic for these cars

Take the Zakspeed (easy) or BMW (hard) in that class for a fair comparison to the Bolide and after that, you can give the Corvette Greenwood a try, for some fun. :)

Love the content as always... one thing though. A Beam NG video with NO CRASHES SHOWN?! What?! Thats the amazing part of beam (besides the millions of brilliant updates), crashing and the consequences of mistakes. I would have loved to see some outside clips of your failed attempts. Thats the bread and butter baby! I cant wait for titles like Gran Turismo to adopt real world crash physics to add that insane level of punishment, and to weed out any remaining chances of rammers. Regardless, amazing as always!

For getting your custom configs in a time trial, you need to enable a setting. It's called "Show custom configs in vehicle selector" under Settings>Gameplay

You should be able to enable the option to show custom configurations in the vehicle selector, then you can tweak the car how you like it and play in time trials.

In case no one's posted it, saving custom configs is very simple. In the car configuration menu, you go to the Save & Load tab, put in a name for the config and hit Save. To delete a config, click it once to select it and then click twice on the bin.

If you want to use your own setup in time trial, you can open the map in free roam, change the setup and then go to the 'Time Trial Mission' (on Nordschleife it's located on the finish line). There you can change settings of Time Trial (like rolling start) and when loaded, your car setup is there. There is also the second option: First, you have to go to settings and enable the option to see the custom cars. Then, in game, when you finish to do your setup, you can save it in the tab 'Save & Load'. After that, you can open the time trial and it will be available as a new car with your chosen name.

One method i've found to tame it a bit is to take about 0.005 - 0.015 bar out of the rear tires, it induces a bit of understeer but it does help. Also i just tend to short shift the hell out of it because of those turbos. You'd certainly like the group 4 versions better

I tried the Group 4 rally variant on the Downnhill Rally scenario in Utah, the car wants to kill you any chance it gets just as an 80s rally car should, they did an amazing job with this remaster

Beam could very very quickly become the ultimate racing simulator if the devs just tweaked the tuning of vehicles very slightly and enabled cars like the G5 Bolide to put more grip down. Beam is a game that does it like no other IMO

I tried to drive this car in Beam NG. This car is extremely hard to control. I thought I was a good driver, then I realized that modern cars helps a lot in keeping the car together.

In QA I managed a 7:30.121 in the Group 4 Asphalt since I gave up trying to get that thing past "Miss-Hit-Miss" so that 30 seconds is fucking astonishing. It really handles like a 70's Porsche Group 5 car which is pretty fitting.

Driving in beamng gives much more tense, you know once you mess up the car is screwed.

Can relate. Tried nurbugring for the first time few days ago and never thought it would be that hard. I literally spent 5 hours to try to finish one lap without crashing. You have to remember everything for each corner, how hard you break at what for example, like there 2:29 at this point right before a jump you have to remember that you have to break early with 20-25% of force or you will crash. Now I kinda understand why this map is so famous

Little Question... how did you get these extra UI Apps? When I go into the UI App Menu and click the "+" thingy it only shows "Download more UI Apps here", and even after I download some, nothing shows up...

If you think its a death trap now, try increasing the rpm limiter to the max, rpm cuttime to 0,1 seconds and turbo boost to 30psi. then it goes bloody fast. In a straight line i got a 380km/h out of it.

Hey you can save ur tune by going to the save and load page under car config and type a name for the tune and save it, then later on load the car and go to config and load the custom profile:)

1:49 You can save your setup,just make a copy of the car.Go to the Vehicle config tab,make your own setup click on APPLY then go to the save & load tab(right beside colors) and name your new car/setup. the game will take a screenshot .The car with the new set up will be saved beside the stock ones on the respective car tab on the vehicles window

What they said + if you want to "develop" a car over a bigger period of time, I recommend just saving the car as default (you have to do this every time you do all the changes you want, otherwise it's not going to be saved and you're going to have the "old" version), that way you already spawn with the customized car. To save the car as default, look in the vehicles tab, on top of the filters.

Did they change the saved presets or something? Usually you can go into the parameters screen where you can adjust things like turbo boost and tire pressure and save the configuration settings. Though I haven't played in a while. I'll have to give this a try. I haven't played Beam in quite some time, let alone trying to do any legitimate grip driving.

I was looking for a suspension/steering geometry tune for the Bolide 320 GTR Group 5. I couldn't find one, so here is my own. The following was tuned at West Coast, Long Race Circuit 2. Got a PB of 1:55.827 respecting track limits. XBox one controller no assists. Front Anti-Roll spring rate decrease to 70000 N/m. Rear Anti-Roll spring rate increase to 25000. 1st Gear Ratio lower (gearing will be taller) to 3.2. Makes the gap between 1st and 2nd smaller and makes the 1st gear more usable for slow corners. Front Camber adjust, change to -25%. Caster Adjust, change to 70%. Front Toe Adjust, change to -6 %. Rear Toe Adjust, change to 12%. Much more stable without sacrificing absolute performance, but still needs throttle discipline when exiting corners, but at least with these settings I can flirt with the throttle mid corner and use the width of the track and the kerbs.

I really like how you promote one of my year long favorite car sim games. There is only a slight problem with BeamNG when it comes to track monsters. Or any time attack built cars in this game. The main simulation is the soft body simulation at which it absolutely excels. It's a decent driving simulation too. But, the airflow simulation isn't at it's best at the time. Down force is applied permanently and in no regard of the actual airflow. This is due to the lack of development. Nothing to worry at all, just a thing to keep in mind tho. I think the devs are aware of this and will adress it at one point. While this certainly helps with lap times, especially at winding tracks like the Nordschleife, it doesn't necessarily mean everyone will achieve record times. AND is in no regards a degrading of your skills. EDIT: Before anyone points out that this setup is hard to drive, I know. It's more a mere observation. Looking forward for every new BeamNG content from you and am still watching all the already uploaded BeamNG videos of yours.
