The Bearaby Tree Napper is a weighted blanket that is sustainably and ethically made. If you are zero waste, low waste, or into sustainable living, Bearaby's weighted blankets are perfect. This is a great weighted blanket for hot sleepers because of the open knit and the breathable fabrics. The Tree Napper is sustainably made with Tencel lyocell, organic cotton, and spandex. Bearaby also sells the Cotton Napper and the Nappling for kids. Bearaby's Sleeper is a weighted comforter for your bed. Do weighted blankets work? The Bearaby Tree Napper has helped my anxiety.

Hi! I'm Kristen. On my channel, Strolling Through Life, I talk about eco-conscious living. Zero waste is great, but it's not realistic to reach that level of perfection (for most people). I try to make eco-friendly/ sustainable living more simple with easy swaps and tips. Living sustainably isn't just about reducing your plastic consumption. Cheers to saving the planet, one video at a time. ;)

Thank you for doing a review! I ordered mine last week but I couldn't really find any reviews on the tree napper specifically and that was the one I was interested in because of the tencel. I have a plastic pellet one weighted blanket from before I started focusing on sustainability/waste and honestly it's a little useless because the pellets shift so much. I can't wait to get mine. They sell out so fast I'm glad I was even able to order one!

Thank you for this review. I've been debating about investing that much money on a weighted blanket but I really like the woven idea. I have a weighted blanket now that is "cooling" and with the pellets but it is constantly coming untied from the cover on the inside and bunching up. The pellets do not keep the weight distributed evenly. I was looking at blankets that might have smaller pockets/squares with the pellets in it but I think the blanket would continue to come untied. This woven idea also seems great for me because I am a hot sleeper.

I love learning of sustainable options for things I wouldn't think you could get sustainably made. This is awesome! One of the other things I learned recently was eco-friendly pillow filling options after thinking there must be something better than replacing my polyester filled pillows every year after flattening so much. I ordered a buckwheat hull filled pillow that I cannot wait to try. A topic you should maybe look into if you didn't know and/or want to educate yourself on :)

That is a beautiful blanket, I’ve been using the Luna 20lb the past week and I’m excited to see what it can do for me. One thing that makes these blankets a huge pain is washing them. I had to wash mine by hand as my washer wasn’t rated for the weight and my damn forearms were swelling.

Hi Kristen, thank you so much for the video! I’ve watched it twice or three times! I’m trying to make this decision and it’s such a big one....because of the sum of money...here in Canada there is a blanket made almost exactly like this, woven this way. It’s 100 percent cotton and it’s called silk n snow. I wish I could get the napper but charge over $200 usd just to get it to Canada, so I’ll have to go with the Canadian brand. They have around the same sizes as bearaby here. They’d cotton is okeo-tex certified, so I’m considering them. Your review was so helpful to see how this works, thank you! I wanted to ask you about the width of it...it seems quite skinny at 40 inches...(silk n snow make it similarly frustratingly skinny at 42”) I’m worried that it won’t cover all of me completely if I move...I’m worried I’ll have to squash myself in to fit...did you find you have to kind of keep your body much smaller while using it? Did you find it comfortable to spread out? Thank you so much again for the video! I also found a tencel one here with glass beads in it, and those are the only two materials in it, and it’s advantage is that it’s 51” which is a much more ‘normal’ single person blanket size. The down side is that, if it ever needs repairs, to fix stitching it bring some beads back into the squares after years of use, you’ll need to find a pro seamstress and pay a lot of money to repair it. The pro of something like what you have here is it doesn’t require expensive special treatment of repairs down the road...but it just seems so so small in its width I’m unsure what to do...please help...🥰
@StrollingThroughLife

You Tube Hey there!! Ah that’s great there’s a similar brand in Canada! I was worried about the width of this before I bought it, too. It actually fits me perfectly. It’s basically like an individual blanket. It think if it was wider, it’d be harder to move around. Honestly, if the other brand is super similar, I’d highly recommend it. It just seems like it’s less likely to break or wear down in comparison to weighted blankets with beads/glass inside. I hope this helps!!

For kids, it's 10% of their body weight + 1 to 2 lbs, so for a 50 lb child, you want a blanket that is either 6 or 7 lbs, no more than that. So the 8 lb blanket should be used for a child weighing no less than 60 lbs. If a child has a condition such as EDS, you may want to use the 10% with no additional lbs added on, so 50 lb child would be 5 lbs. For adults who have EDS, the more weight the blanket is, the more likely you'll feel "out of place" and I'd suggest no more than 15 lbs depending on how bad your joint movement is. I use 12 lbs but would prefer 15 lbs...however trying to move the 12 lb blanket in the middle of the night is difficult on my elbows and shoulders sometimes.

I don't like how Bearaby market their knitted blankets as if they invented them. I also feel like there is some skilled greenwashing going on from their side. There are other companies making this type of chunky knitted weighted blanket with nothing but fabric as the weight.

Hand woven in China. Bearaby doesn’t comment on their manufacturing standards as they pertain to Human Resources. Hopefully they’re ensuring the Chinese people who hand weave these aren’t working 15 hours a day for 10 cents an hour.
