Let me get this straight. Instead of the city investing in businesses, police department, fire department, infrastructure, education, social work...they decide to throw their money at a football club that is worth billions of dollars.

No way is the price accurate. Just the rate of inflation will elevate the price by hundreds of millions of dollars. If they included the real cost over the 3+ years of the project, it would freak the public out even more. Plus it will be a 30 to 40 year financed project with tax payer money.

There’s nothing wrong with soldier field and in 20 years people will be complaining about how ugly this new stadium is.

No parking is honestly why downtown kinda sucks. Public transportation: Chicago is not the safest city. Asking fans to "rely" on public services is a horrible idea. Can you imagine the train system on game day?

Its NOT walk "2 or 3 blocks to the stadium, no problem" I live here. It's a horrible location for getting to. There's nothing around there. It's a weird, confusing, cluster ___k of an area. This idea SUCKS.

you have to take in account a lot of the roads are going to be reconfigured, that’s included in that infrastructure piece of the price. It’s not just the park

This stadium is already a failure. In the presentation Kevin Warren said that in the basketball configuration the capacity is 77k, which means for football it’s about 70k and that’s way too small! Also, it will still be so painful to get to, public transit to that area isn’t good and there’s only one major road which is Lake Shore Drive.

I hope people wake the F up and start saying no. These owners are all wealthy enough to build their own projects. Jobs argument is total and utter bull crap, no new well paying jobs are created. The buildings for the most part don't generate enough return to justify the costs. Issue Bonds that the teams pay back, fine, asking for a free handout NO.

Why don't they charge a stadium fee for people that use it? I don't fish or hunt so I don't pay the licensing fees to pay for restocking rivers or game wardens and fish commisioners. You use it you pay for it, and you don't pay if you never use it.

Chicago was founded with the principle of keeping the lake shore open to the public. A stadium district should be a huge no. The stadium itself it lucky to be there. They should move this somewhere else and use that space for public parks as intended.

Just a little insight cause I watched the press conference live and observed the live reaction. People were really disgusted with how the unveiling opened. A reverend came out and asked everyone to bow their heads and pray to God asking for his help getting money needed to pay for the stadium and asked God for help winning games and getting to the Superbowl. Truly pathetic and disgusting to watch. It was in horrible taste to ask God for money for a multi billionaire dollar vanity project when they are many more pressing issues to deal with in the city. You can see it for yourself. The press conference is still up in it's entirety on the official Chicago Bears KZfaq channel. Not a good look for the Bears organization at all. Real bad.

NFL stadiums are the worst bang for your buck. $3B+ for 8 or 9 home games and maybe 1 or 2 playoff games per season. Someone tell Bears ownership there are still 365 days in a year. Yeah, I get that other events will take place there, but if the Bears ownership thinks the stadium will be such a cash cow, pay for it himself and reap the rewards. Same scam as it's been for decades now. Illinois politicians should call their bluff. The Bears would be nuts to move out of Chicago.

Chicago hasn’t come close to paying off the bonds from the last remodeling of Soldiers Field. The city is in a fiscal mess the last thing they can afford is a football stadium.

Parking is a massive issue. Last time I went to a Bears game we had to park then we took an Uber from the park car to the nearest point we could get dropped off and still had to walk at least half a mile.

I didnt realize how similar to Allegiant it was until I did a side by side. But what can you do? You need to build a football shaped stadium with a limited footprint and a translucent roof.

This is a colossal ego trip for the new Bears' president, Kevin Warren. The site is a mistake as it is too congested. You are incorrect when you said there are no other buildings in the area. Soldier Field sits just south of the Museum Campus (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium) and just north of the city's major convention center, McCormack Place. Further, the nearby Metra train tracks (west) and Lake Michigan (east) further limit the construction footprint. The former Arlington Racetrack site (which the Bears own) makes much more sense and would probably cost far less money to build.

I think there will be underground parking because there is already a ton of underground parking in this area and if you look at the renderings at 3:45 and 5:10 you can see a tunnel right in front of the field museum that could lead to underground parking

I think the stadium is tremendous people tripping a dome the open outlook of the downtown skyline from inside the stadium the only thing I hope is 1 the traffic major issue and the parking and restaurants inside and outside the stadium but it’s beautiful it’s like a big yacht on the outside with a football stadium on the inside and I like the entrance as well

Wasn't the drawing of what Lori Lightfoot had in mind cheaper than what Kevin Warren showed today? I want the Bears to get a new stadium, and I want them to get the new stadium in Chicago. I hear you on the interior design. Of all the firms, HOK does the best job on making the interiors for each of their NFL stadiums look different. They're designing the new Jags, and they also designed Mercedes Benz Stadium (Atlanta). Both of those stadiums look unique and different both from the inside and outside.

The stadium is beautiful. Idc about the comparison to the Raiders stadium. It would bring the Bears into the future. It would also bring way more events like NCAA basketball and Football championships,concerts and other major events. Chicago needs this

Big picture is this- whats the weather in Chicago like year round? Over time will the land shift or sink because its close to the water? Will there be MORE money coming out of tax payers pockets for repairs because opps! we didnt think about that sink hole we just opened up..

I think voters have grown tired of paying for venues for billionaires. Most of these stadiums are barely 20 years old and the original debt isn't paid off, before renovations and replacement is demanded. There is zero return on the investment made by tax payers.

Love how you’re not looking at 50 different weird things in the stadium all meshes so good together! Its very pretty and lord knows the Bears desperately need an indoor stadium, but I don't think either the City or the Bears themselves can afford it. The McCaskeys have gotten wealthy owning the Bears, but like many families that inherited their teams from the beginning of the League (the Bidwills, the Browns), they have no other sources of wealth to draw upon to invest in their teams. They're like a middle class family whose house was suddenly valued at 100x what they paid for it.
