As a Bears Fan, the taxpayers should not pay a CENT for this. The cheap McKaskeys can pay for it with loans. Tax Payers are still paying for the bill for the Soldier Field renovations from 20 years ago. Also if they want to lower the cost, move it away from the lake shore. That is prime real estate that could be used for condos and parks. Why are we still trying to build sports stadiums there?

The bears need to get outta Chicago and move to Arlington heights there they can have all the revenue from concerts, events, and Superbowls. They won't need to lease anything from the Chicago park district. They will own their own land . Seems better than paying a lease to the park district.

Other than a better view from the lake, it's closer to the Airport as well as the Hotels. If they want all those events knowing that people will fly into your City and you have your New Statium at Arlington Heights, you also need to build a lodging situation. Adn the public transportation is already built in the area. That's my guess.

Great video....I live in downtown Palatine (I'm 2.5 miles from Arlington Park and 1 Metra Train stop away).... I mention this to establish that I know the Chicagoland area well (have lived here all my life -- 44 years). The only thing I dispute that you said in this video is about a lakefront stadium being easier to access from "people flying into Chicago". Not true. Getting to that lakefront area is one of lifes greastest challenges. It's a cluster __k in that area. Arlington Park is only 13 miles (20 mins away) from O'Hare International Airport. Soldier Field is 19 miles from O'Hare but might as well be 40 miles (if you're driving). Arlington Park land is HUGE and there's a commuter train station right there on site. Literally...as the stop is called "Arlington Park". Problem with the Bears ownership is they aren't liquid cash wealthy. They are asset wealthy. They can't afford to pay for the stadium with their own money....well, they are unwilling to let's leave it at that. I would think they could seek private equity investment in exchange for cash but so far they seem unwilling to part ways with any of the main asset (that being the CHICAGO BEARS NFL team -- company if you will). It's a jazzed up situation at the moment and Kevin Warren is learning that people in this area are not stupid. He needs to come down to Earth and stop trying to gas light taxpayers.

First question - How does Chicago plan to pay for all of this considering it seems that their tax revenue base is shrinking? Second question - Why do so many places (cities and states) insist on paying for new stadium complexes that never seem to really pay for themselves? People what makes the Arlington Heights location the most logical choice is that the Bears WILL OWN the stadium and the surrounding businesses on the property. Hotels/Bars/Restuarants/Condos/Stores will be owned by the Bears and they will pay the tax revenue to the city of AH and the County/State. The state would be willing to chip in some money for that because they can see that the entire Bears village will generate enough money to pay back the tax payers and employ 10x the amount of employees then a lakefront stadium would. The lakefront stadium and its new park district ball fields will not generate the amount of revenue to pay off the loans and provide the tax revenue to the state/city/count government. Also the Bears could entice investors to spend more money in Arlington Heights to build the stadium/village because they see the revenue potential. It has nothing to do with access to the area or anything like that. It helps but its about revenue generation.

If they end up in Arlington Heights they need to use this architecture firm that made up the plans for the stadium in City of Chicago there is much more creative and unique plans for the stadium and love the C design on the roof and the design looks heck of a lot better than the original plans for Arlington Heights. I agree with someone's comment it looks like the original Arlington Heights plans look like a architect student drawn those plans up in an afternoon/ no creativity to their designs. No way for them to keep all the revenue will never happen. The Bears need to come up with their own funding and build a stadium in Arlington Heights with a new architecture firm that know how to design stadiums that look attractive, functional as well and being cost affective. The bears can get all the revenue to pay back their loans having a place they can rent out off season when there is not playing football and get all the revenue from concession, stadium souvenir shop and what not if they own their own stadium.

I understand why the bears want to keep the revenue from off season events, it would be to pay the debit that’s still owed from the 2002 renovation, and the fee added to building this. And the Sox stadium. The State hasn’t been paying the bill at all. So of course I want to control the fees, you aren’t paying. That’s how the Vikings stadium was paired off so fast.

@depressedginger they’re building the parks because the lakefront is purely zoned for public projects, it’s not just for looks And goodwill. That’s why the bears lease from the city, because it’s parkland. That’s also why they explored Arlington Heights, they would own the stadium and be more lucrative. Regardless, the bears shouldn’t ask for any money to build the stadium or the demo of Soldier Field. Quite frankly, it’s a horrible pain to get to soldier field for games, so I think Arlington Heights is a slam dunk…especially knowing that it would be WAY closer to their HQ. Just my two cents.

@@marblox9300 When you own common stock although you can get compensated, you're also at the very bottom of the pecking order in getting paid out. So what that means is the company is allowed to use its revenue to meet all financial obligations first before paying out common shareholders. And since Green Bay has never budgeted for, nor will they ever budget for, paying out their shareholders, then they'll never get compensated. And they can easily justify it with the costs associated with the NFL. Even in bankruptcy, common shareholders rarely see a dime. The reality is for the Packers, they'll periodically sell more stock (under certain provisions) to generate additional revenue for team related projects. And for the fans yes they do own a very small stake in the team, but it's more for show than anything.

Cities just don’t get the revenue back to cover the bonds to make it worth it. Maybe they are figuring it out. The way to do is like Vikings made it work. They paid 1/2 the City issued bonds but the team was responsible for paying those bonds back and until they did the City got a cut of the revenue. THe Vikings paid off the Bonds 20 years early and now own the building outright. The city has no further obligations and the tax payers were not hit. A hotel tax is not unreadable because you make visitors pay for it ie the Raiders. Still tax payers should not have to pay for these things.
