What made this movie memorable for me is that it was the "first" to feature Rae Dawn Chong actually speaking English!

Brings back memories of when I started DJing in the 80s. I layered my mixes using tape decks, then would mix live over the layers. We didn't have MPCs we could use back then. Best time of my life.

Who did these mixes 4 Special K ? Was it DJ Jazzy Jay...they were supremely intricate and just plain DOPE ! That song with the "' fly, fly blackbird fly ...." what's the artist & title of that ? This is 1 of my favorite Special K scenes the next 2 are the basement & at the 'Burning Spear' !

Do you have the song Working Woman? I have been looking for this song forever, since the 80's and cannot find it anywhere. I read that it was made just for the film and never released, which would be depressing. That song is a WHOLE vibe, love it!

There are a few songs from this movie that were never released. This one, that song in Herc's club that goes "Doin' it," and "Vicious Beat" by Brenda K. Starr. There may be others but I don't remember offhand
