I remember seeing the last screening in my area with my Grandma, sometimes she would lean over and whisper to me about how weird or awkward it got but when it ended we got in the car in total silence and drove for a few minutes without saying anything. Amazing movie

He tends to do that; Midsommar has the entire plot in the beginning/opening of the movie. Hereditary had clues *constantly* throughout. I absolutely love his work.

This movie is so unbelievably well choreographed and filmed that it almost feels like a set within a set, just to make it even more unsettling.

I watched it last night this movie gave me every emotion known to man from fear, disgust, apathy, sadness to anxiety. This movie was the stuff of nightmares not as in it was scary, it wasn't. But it's the reality that some people actually live like this, everything from his apartment to him being under his mom's thumb to the crazies in the neighborhood, it's horrifying. And turn after turn Beau is put into these harrowing situations. It was one of the best movies that I've seen in a long time.

The guy at 4:00 who’s line is “they’re trying to get him to jump” is the same actor who played Simon in Midsommar! He’s mortified of people jumping to their deaths in Midsommar but in Beau is Afraid he’s demented and filming it happen. I see what you did there Ari Aster!

I love weird, psychological, horrifying, challenging movies (with a sense of dark humor), but rarely are they this well made and with this high of a budget. I doubt we’ll see something even remotely close to it for decades.

The details are insane. Grace and Jeeves handing out soup to the people, the foreshadowing with the boat and rifle… And the way the camera moves at 4:55 following Beau and 5:00 over the door still gives me chills. I’ve never seen a shot like that ever before. This is a master’s work. Absolutely incredible.

probably the best cinema experience I've ever had, every scene is just shocking and so entertaining. The intro is perfection. Only film ive ever watched where it took my weeks to decide how i thought about it and i loved it.

The movie feels like a very high quality play. It’s great, I have never doubted Joaquin’s choices. It’s very apparent- he’s aiming for an oscar nom atleast this year. Napolean is releasing too later in the year.

Long ago as a child I crept downstairs and grabbed a VHS copy of 'A Clockwork Orange' from the top drawer (a drawer we were not allowed to go into) and I watched it SILENTLY in fast forward (as to not get caught) then watched it backwards in rewind (as to not leave evidence)... This is the first time I have watched a movie since then that has left me with that same feeling of confusion...

A24 should have released clips like these before, we saw very little promotion, I mean most people skipped the movie as they just didn’t know it was playing. It could have been hyped so much- Joaquin + Ari is an explosive combo.
