After watching my video on the most beautiful cameras, viewers have suggested a total of over 130 other cameras that they feel should or could have been included (as at midday 22nd April 22).
I thought it would be interesting and helpful to pull together an A to Z list of these cameras and include photos of each camera.
N.B. The list does not include my original selections.
Here's a link to my original video: • The most beautiful cam...

Love this list which includes some of the ugliest cameras ever made (IMHO), and some of the most beautiful. Seeing such a variety of opinions of beauty is always pleasurable. Viva la difference!

Yes, fine additions all! I would note that the concept of "beautiful" seems to have a wide definition that includes aesthetics, practical/industrial styling, and the visually unusual.

I got a controversial for you all. I saw this camera for sale a couple of months ago and just fell in love. The Nikon 1 J1. Has this retro futuristic yet minimalistic kind of approach. Mine is all white.

SO fun. Thanks for doing this video. For most people, I think, most of these cameras would have remained unknown so this is a great way to become educated....and enjoy the art of the camera. The Hasselblad and the Contact G series are, to me, iconically beautiful.....but thats just me.

Great job !!! I believe that there should be a third part of the video because there are a sight more beautiful cameras. For example: Exakta 66 (old version) just gorgeus camera or Fujifilm GW690 III Professional (Texas Leica), Leningrad, Kodak Retina, Exakta B, Exakta Varex Ia + Zeiss Flektogon 2.8/35 (Zebra), Pentakon Six TL, Topcon Beseler Super D + Tokyo Kogaku Auto-Topcor f/1.4 58mm , Agfa Isolette III (lens Solinar), Aires Viscount Coral 45mm f1.9, Galileo Ferrania Condor I, Konica Autoreflex, Mamiya RB67 Pro, Olympus 35 SP, ROLLEIFLEX 6008 Professional, Voskhod RF, Zorki 3 + Jupiter-8 50/2, Contax 645, Zeiss Ikon Contaflex TLR, Zeiss ikon SW, Mamiya C330S Professional, Konica IIIA, Zenza Bronica ETRS, Yashica Mat 124G, Konica Hexar AF, Alpa Alnea Mod.7, Minolta Dynax 7, Minolta Dynax 9, Minolta SRT202 Black, Minolta XK (motor), Minolta Maxxum 9000, and many more.

The Soligor TM indeed is a Miranda TM which is a Miranda Sensomat RE with M42-Thread-Mount. Miranda's bayonet mount looks much nicer, therefore I would opt for Miranda Sensomat RE instead of TM.

Some excellent choices on both this and your original video. I was particularly pleased to see the Flexaret in your list, they are simply stunning in the flesh and I have two on display. Personally, being a big Olympus fan, I was suprised some of the earlier 35mm Pen half frame compacts like the S or EE didn't make any of the lists or the full frame like the D series. I'm looking forward to the next video and you have a new subscriber.

I became addicted to purchasing cameras, so I’m recent years I’ve stopped to just enjoy the ones I own. My personal favorites are my Pentax Spotmatix, a Zorki Leica II clone and my most favorite among all my cameras, the Olympus Pen F and FT. Another favorite of mine that I didn’t think I would appreciate is an old 116 Kodak Brownie I found in a thrift store. Everything functions with it, but I have not attempted to shoot anything with it yet. I love all the content, and this is in my top 3 photography related channels I follow.

Thank you for this supplemental listing. I was happy to see the inclusion of the Retina III C and the Asahiflex IIa. As it seems I've never met a camera I didn't like, I have some other suggestions, Sigma DP1/2/3 Quattro , Zunow SLR, Miranda T, Yashica Penta J , Yashica YF (Nicca IIIL) , Leica III's, i.e., A-F, and G , Leicaflex SL2 , Beseler Topcon RE Super , Canon RM , Nikon F (with eye level finder) , Zeiss Ikon Contaflex , and the "Baby" Rolleiflex

I forgot to mention the Canon EF but its design was indeed very nice. I should also have mentioned the Mamiya C220 (so also the C330) because I have one and it is a real beauty. What is impressive is how much more diverse the look of cameras was in the past. The cameras from the art deco period that you showed in the first video particularly appealed to me and amazed me, maybe because it is a period that I like very much. I started photography in 1975 so I am an "old" photographer, but I don't feel reactionary at all and some of the current cameras are beautiful. What I do notice though, is that young people have a WOW reaction mostly when they see pre-digital cameras. Is it because of their surprise as they are used to the contemporary design that is their everyday life, I don't know, but they readily say that they feel like they are seeing "real" cameras then, as if the digital ones were toys. Interesting.

It is all a matter of taste, clearly, and for my two pennyworth there are some very vanilla cameras in that line up. Mamiya NC 1000, Nikon D750, Pentax K-5, all unexceptional to look at. The OM4 Ti was an excellent camera but not nearly as pretty as the OM1. Praktica MTL3 with its oversized stop down lever and bubble wrap finish? Are people confusing their sentimental attachment to a camera with its aesthetic appeal?

Thank you Simon for mentioned Nikon F3 by Giorgetto Giugiaro; Canon EOS by Luigi Colani; Contax RTS, RX, S2 by Porsche Design. But how could you miss in your list one of the most beautiful cameras - a rangefinder Linhof 220 by an anonymous designer?! I had two of them and shot fashion for major glossy magazines.

One of the odd, yet beautiful cameras I've seen/owned was Minolta's "Minolta 110 Zoom SLR". Small, flat, and narrow (like many 110 cameras), this one was a true SLR with a small fixed zoom lens and collapsible lens hood. This was followed by the 110 Zoom Mark II. Picture a standard black film SLR shrunk in size for the 110 format and you'll have an idea of what it looked like. Another well designed camera (smooth lines, no bling) was a 110 SLR by Pentax (the "Pocket SLR") which had interchangable lenses. All of these were available in the early - mid-70's.

Since you're one of the main 'vintage lenses' channels on KZfaq, is there any chance you could speak regarding the myths about the Russian factories of some m42 lenses? For example, the Helios 44-2 I own is a Valdai. Most people say it is the worst one of the 44-2, yet some opicians have told me those are the most faithful to the original Biotar they are based of. Also Valdai made the Jupiter lenses as far as I'm concerned and those are still very looked upon today. Thanks!

Did I miss the Kodak Brownie Vecta? An epic piece of mid-century modern by Kenneth Grange. Among other memorable examples of industrial design, Grange was responsible for Imperial typewriters, Morphy Richards irons, Parker pens, and the front of the inter city 125 train. In it's conventional position, the Vecta takes vertical (portrait) images on 127 film.

Hey Simon, just discovered your channel a few days ago as I'm up to get some vintage lenses for myself. However, I'm still concerned about that Thorium / radioactive topic and I really want to avoid these lenses. It would be pretty cool if you could make a video in which you measure possible radiation from all of your lenses including serial numbers, as your collection is second to none here on KZfaq and the internet is full with contradictory information. Cheers and keep up the good work.

@@Simonsutak thank you for the fast reply! May I ask you to comment or include the serial numbers in the video description additionally? Many of these lenses are visually the same looking, but the coatings, especially that Thorium thing varied over the years and they differentiate only via serial numbers. Really love your channel, the topics and the style of it by the way. Already subscribed.

Quite a variety of attractive and ugly here LOL. (Emotions do obviously matter in the language of beauty.) I'm often attracted to machines that represent design history. Examples would include: 1) Canon's T90, for basically inventing every modern rounded-corners SLR/DSLR style. 2) Canon's Elan II (50) for an honest attempt at "retro" in a time when everything else was suffering from insufferable boxy plastic gauche (look at Nikons/Minoltas of that time) 3) and a FEW from the Pentax ZX/XZ line: ZX-5 or 5n (or MZ-3 if available) or ZX-M, the latter of which had the audacity to omit AF in its failed quest to replace the K1000 "student camera.". In the mid-late '90s they were a nice swan song to film SLRs.
