In the sewing of the sides she did not sew all the way to the beginning of the single crochet. She made a point of starting 4 crochet motifs down Could this be your problem? If not maybe larger handles with more space for the single crochet? I hope it works out for you.

I use the sewing method. Attach the inner yarn to the folded-down section. I think it will help you. 😍
