I cannot wait to see what you do with all of these gorgeous papers. When I was young, growing up on a farm, we had huge gardens and canned and froze lots of produce. I died eggs in onion skins and beet juice and I put tomato skins on papers. The eggs turned out awesome. The papers not so much. It is so amazing that the avocado skins and pits produced pink! Thank you for sharing!

If you add baking soda to the avocado while it is on the stove, you will have an even richer color.

Can't wait to see what you create with the natural dyed papers. I want to actually make my paper n use different dyes to color them. Putting dried flower, herbs and leaf pieces in them. So I can use this as a jump off point. Great idea!

This was so much fun to watch!! I may not ever dye paper, but I'm looking forward to next week's usage video. I have recently gotten back into cross stitching and I've seen several videos where people dye their fabric to give an antique look. But I've always worried about using chemical dyes with my kitchen pots, pans, baking sheets, bowls, spoons, etc. This may be a nice alternative.

I love love the results I got when I used clothing dye and balled up waxed paper. You have to sort of babysit the process, turning the balls of waxed paper over because they float. I saw it done on a KZfaq channel. Once the paper is dry, I ironed it and it is so soft, but sturdy too. You can't really glue things on it but it does add a lovely pop of color in a journal. Or you could use it in a sun catcher.

Really?? That sounds so fun!! I would never have thought of wax paper 😃 I'll have to check it out 😉 I wonder if you used gel medium if things would adhere to it 🤔 I'll have to tryit out. Thanks so much for watching and sharing, I greatly enjoyed it 😊 💖

I've never dyed paper but I've done a lot of fabric and yarn and embroidery floss. One of my favourite natural dye is with Mullein that you can collect from the side of the road. The leaves make a gorgeous bright yellow. I had to buy it but Madder is amazing as if you change the pH you get completely different colours. Great video!

@@rachelburgener819 Madder is a plant used traditionally in Europe for its roots to make beautiful red dye. Mullein has lots of properties but mainly grows along roadsides or disturbed areas and grows really tall. Its leaves make an excellent yellow dye.

I have coffee, tea dyed muslin and chenille fabrics before. I also have walnut crystals (mix with water to make a walnut stain) that I’ve used in the past too. I’ve also died wooden clothespins too and white fabric. I have tried it on paper tags too. So fun!! I haven’t tried it just on paper though. Only issue is we don’t eat onions or avocados…so I don’t have access to the skins. But I am looking forward to your tutorial next week to see what you do with them and see if I need to get using/making these again! Thank you!!!
