After the successful design of the Beretta Model 1934 in .380 ACP, Italy looked at a design for the .32 ACP (7.65 Browning) cartridge. The design was the M1935. The M1935 had slight differences to accommodate the .32 ACP, but overall it looked exactly like a Model 1934. Because of the less effective .32 ACP, this pistol was mainly issued to pilots and flight crews at first but then saw use with other military and police forces. Some of these pistols were also issued to German Military Forces occupying Italy in the latter part of the Second World War.
