Thank you for being straight about this. Like… “make good music, release it as often as you can, make content to promote it.” It IS that simple. People just don’t like hearing that it takes longer than a month lol. Might take a few years. But if you do exactly those things, you’ll absolutely grow.

This is quite a helpful video, thank you. I saw on Instagram a while back that you were focusing on shorter songs and I have implemented that into my writing process. I have definitely been the writer over the years that’s like “this song has to be 5 minutes long”…without any real metric for why it needed to be that way, and often times has multiple sections repeated. A song doesn’t need to be any certain length; if it’s a minute long, cool - if it’s 5 minutes long, cool. As long as I can appropriately convey what I want to say musically, then it’s all good. But I am leaning toward shorter songs overall.

Putting out a song every week is honestly insane. I don't think that's realistic for most artists at all. But if it works for you then go for it. I think it's a good idea to advise artists to net feel pressured to favor quantity over quality at the expense of favoring spotify's algorithim. At the end of the day, consistency is key but at what cost lol. Cuz every week is MENTAL

Thanks for the content bro, very nice. Personally, I think releasing a song a week is a bit much but I do understand the concept behind it. I think per month is more realistic as it gives you time to promote the song properly. I managed an artist in NZ and we got a number 1 song through a combination of things, including some of the things you mention in this video. However, I would say that there is no perfect marketing plan as it depends on so many external factors. My suggestion to anyone reading this is to try a variety of tactics and see which combination works for your music.

the great thing is (talking about the end of your video) you're talking about consistently releasing a ton of music. the beautiful thing about that, is that you get to view your growth as an artist and as a creator. kind of like when you first start working out and you think you're alright but you suck at bench. then a year later you see how much weight you've put on the bar it blows your mind from where you started. :)

Damn. You honestly blew my mind when you said you release music every Friday. For some reason I had this belief that all my music on Spotify has to be perfect and the "Release every week" approach is "wrong" or "amaetur" Meanwhile, it's the approach I've always lived by. Commiting to doing the task (be it workout, meditation session, making content) - even if it's not that great at the moment. But consistently, over a long time period. Thanks man. This was one of those a-ha moments for me. Cheers :D

The music still has to be good though. Most doing this strategy just make mediocre music.
@MyshkoMusic10 ай бұрын
@@Josh-zr9by No doubt, but you also can't deny that most doing this strategy will end up improving their music in the process. This weekly release approach gives you a goal to move towards. Something you look forward to achieving every week. Helps you get rid of some of the perfectionism and forces you to FINISH your projects. Lol.
@Josh-zr9by10 ай бұрын
@@MyshkoMusic True, but it also raises the question. In one week, can a person make impactful music? Thoughtful music? Can it make the listener feel something, and delve into a niche sound? 99.9% of the time, no. In a week, they will be focused on churning out quantity over quality. I reckon once a month is a better strategy.
@MyshkoMusic10 ай бұрын
@@Josh-zr9by Yeah I guess releasing once a month would work better for many people. Maybe myself included even lol. I often have periods where I can't come up with anything I like no matter how much I try. I usually have to take a break to regain inspiration. As Beautiful Beats said, don't force yourself to release if you feel the quality isn't there But then again, the amount of time you spend on a project shouldn't be an indicator of how good it is. To this day, my favorite track I've ever released was one that I finished making in 2 days. And I have projects I've worked on for literal MONTHS just to end up HATING them.

I see your monthly listeners have crossed 700,000, and your artist popularity index is at 50%, which is fantastic. Typically, artists with a popularity index of around 45% can make it onto editorial playlists. However, I noticed you haven't been featured on any Spotify editorial playlists. This is a bit puzzling, considering your talent and the quality of your music. You deserve that extra push more than many others. I am really curious as to why they havent put you on editorial!
@BeautifulBeats998 ай бұрын
I’ve actually heard mixed reviews about being on editorials. A lot of times editorials just get random passive listeners and not organic fans but idk. Also you may be on it for like a week and then off it after that and it hurts the performance of the song. I’m not too worried about it honestly.
@BeautifulBeats998 ай бұрын
Would rather see consistent growth
@tokyogamer58258 ай бұрын
I completely understand your perspective, and if you tailor your pitch to your specific genre, editorial support can significantly enhance your "Fans Also Like" recommendations. This improvement arises from their access to better listening habit data, even if your save and follow rates may not be exceptionally high. It could be more about how artists are engaging with your music. Streams from editorial are not important in your case; it's more about spotify editorial evaluating your track's performance and placing it on more prominent "Algotorial" and "personalized editorial playlists." This approach can lead to substantial growth in your Spotify followers, potentially reaching millions of monthly streams without having to rely on FB Ads too much since you would have an extremely high follower count [Typically 10% followers listen on release radar first 28 days so if you had 100,000 followers that would be a great advantage on every release day to get your song above 30% PPI quickly]. You've got all the elements in place to aim for editorial features and the potential to double your income. I'm genuinely puzzled as to why Spotify hasn't featured your music yet, given your high index, but I'm not implying any wrongdoing. One possible factor to consider is the fan conversion rate, which can be a bit challenging, especially for producers. Have you been actively pitching your songs to the editorial team? If you specify the playlist you'd like to target in your pitch, I'm confident it can boost your chances of getting featured. I used to think that Facebook ads might not be the best data for Spotify editorial pitches, but I'm reconsidering that view, given the success I've witnessed. @@BeautifulBeats99

I think some artists currently underestimate the value of a full album over a single. The cover art is like real estate. One square image represents only one song, the other square image represents and brings new listeners to 10 - 20 songs.
