The King's Academy, a National Blue Ribbon, Christian school in South Florida, recently presented "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" on its main stage in the new Page Family Center for Performing Arts. Starring TKA senior Gracie O'Connor (Belle), senior Casey Gustafson (Beast), junior Chris Pappas (Lumiere), senior Graham Popadic (Cogsworth), senior Kate Higgins (Mrs. Potts), and senior Sam Cornelius (Gaston), this performance showcased TKA’s fine young talent.
TKA’s Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program, is led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater, Department Chair), Mrs. Sonia Santiago (Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Miss Riselle Portuondo (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Miss Sarah Fahey (Theatre Arts), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft), Mr. David Skinner (Instrumental Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Assistant Band Director), Mr. Patrick Clifford (Strings), Mrs. Macey Norton (Video/Digital Arts), Mrs. Laura McFaden (Visual Art), Miss Stephanie Revell (Elementary Choir, Woodwinds), and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Piano).

She started a KZfaq channel when she went off to the University of Alabama and that's how I found Gracie and as soon as I saw her face on this video I knew I had to click on it I watched her singing at her graduation but I haven't heard her sing an English because she sang an opera song for graduation and I'm just blown away by her Talent her voice is so strong!

The vocals, the choreography, the costumes and the set design are all fantastic. I wish my school did more professional shows like this one! Plus, did Belle play Nancy in Oliver and the library man play Mr Sowerberry

I thought the dancers in the bright skirts were distracting but I understand they need to give parts to lots of people. Apart from that.. I would have assumed this was a professional production. To think these are high school kids..amazing! Broadway is in good hands for the future. 👏👏👏

We just finished all our shows of beauty and the beast (5 in total) after 3 extended years of rehearsals (through covid) and tho I’m glad it’s finally over, I’m sad bc it’ll be my last secondary show before going into college (I’m year 11). The cast was amazing and by looking at this it makes me reminisce on it.

Thanks, Rachi. Lefou is played by TKA freshman Casey Butler who previously performed as George in Broadway's "Finding Neverland." Casey has also appeared in TKA Theatre Company's productions of "And Then They Came for Me" and "Lion King Jr." He will soon star as the Artful Dodger in King's upcoming musical "Oliver!"

The soloists are excellent, but I can't get past the chorus singing with their music books. It seems odd to be singing "with her nose stuck in a book" while they are reading their music. I can't imagine they really need the crutch. The quality is incredibly professional except for that. Why?
