Beauty and Tragedy of "The Whale" (2022 Movie)

My personal video tribute to Darren Aronofsky's dramatic masterpiece "The Whale" (2022) which moved me to tears by its depiction of raw human emotions. Great storytelling, the director's symbolic handwriting and the beautiful music are all in perfect balance. The movie won 2 Academy Awards for Best Makeup and Best Actor, which are both well deserved. Brendan Fraser plays the role of his life and I'm very happy that he got his recognition. As an additional artistic choice for my video tribute, I decided to insert some short clips from the movie "Moby Dick" (1956) in order to give the whole edit a broader symbolic perspective. Warning: Might contain some spoilers if you have not already seen the movie.

The MIX of emotions that this film gave me... sad, sympathetic, angry, happy, heart-warming, empathetic, frustrated, and admiration. It was SO HARD to watch!! But WELL WORTH watching! What a beautiful and gentle man with GENUINE hurt, DEEP pain and regret for doing something wrong to his daughter! He still believed in the goodness of people, despite what he LOST and how he was treated. He PAYED for his mistakes with all the self-sabotaging he did! He lost the love of his life and started hurting himself because of that. A good man trying to redeem himself... Brendan MORE THAN DESERVED his oscar! UNBELIVEABLE acting, and his performance has the POWER to raise awareness, influence, and help others who are going or could go through the same thing. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This movie has inspired me to lose weight. I’m not obese like Charlie but ever since I’ve started college I’ve been neglecting my body and weight and It’s been really hard adjusting to my new weight since I’ve been rather healthy for most of my life after seeing this movie I plan on losing it and striving to make my body better than ever. Thank you Darren Aronofsky, Samuel Hunter, and Brendan Fraser.

He wore a fat suit and had to go through the makeup process for several hours each morning. So, it's basically practical effects and almost no CGI was used. In my opinion, there is a good reason why this movie got the Academy Award for best makeup. 😉

What’s wrong? Anyways Hong Chau is Vietnamese not Chinese. According to the source material, Liz was just specified to be someone of Asian descent. It did not specify further as to which part of Asia
