That girl is me. I look like her I and struggle with my appearance since a long time. When she said that she doesnt consider herself beautiful I had to cry so hard because she is soooo beautiful but then I look into the mirror and I only see my "flaws". Damn society, media and advertisment to manipulate us to an extent that we look into the mirror and instead of seeing our beauty we wanna undergo every plastic surgery which is offered on this planet. I hate the human species so much sometimes. But girl in 3.41 min you are a diamond.😢

@@s.a.8106 Girl don't follow what the social media define beautiful because what they defining beautiful now they considered it ugly 10 years ago. Look at your smile, or the way you laugh and it reaches other rooms, or how your eyes reflect the light, how your body protects you from anything that harms you through literally thick and thin, how you are able to see many different colors and landscapes or hear so many different sounds and birds chirping. Trust me I never met you but you are beautiful and the more you take care of your soul, mind and heart the more you get beautiful outside too, it like shines. As someone who struggled with this and it's overcoming it I wanted to push you to go beyond what few people think about you

@@nilleyi2231 thank u so much for ur message❤️ it's just really hard u know I grew up in a society where there is an immense pressure on women to look beautiful. @@s.a.8106 Anybody does what they want with their body, but if you start changing it you will just find more flaws, loving yourself is a whole journey, it may even take all your life but it feels so good because you are accepting genuinely who you are, your body after you woke up, your face with or without makeup, your eyes after crying, everything . It takes small steps but worth it. You may do a nose job for example and in a few years there will be a new trend or you won't like it anymore or worse it could have health damage on you. Changing what you consume is the biggest tip I have, instead of making it about influencers crazy lifestyles what about art or poetry or travelling stuff.

This 'perfect' body image that society creates is actually fake. VERY FAKE. We're smart enough to understand that we humans we all have different body sizes/shapes and it's impossible for us to achive a specific one. It's normal for some people to feel insecure because it's natural and it's okay if someone wants to work out to achieve the body type that they are aiming at. What is not okay is when people start being obsessed over physique, when they obsess over having the perfect body type and that's when they become depressed and take huge risks(tons of surgeries, starving) etc to get what they desperately want. If you'd like to change your physique, then do so without considering the wants of society. Do it for yourself and don't obsess over it.

OK, is it only me that doesn't find kylie beautiful? When I think of kylie I think of an hourglass body (a bit un proportional) , big lips, small nose, long hair, tan, and all the wowowos but I never think of the word beautiful for kylie. Don't get me wrong everyone is beautiful but if you observe in the video that's how everyone sees her, (slim waist, big boobs, perfect thighs etc) on the other hand most people will think of Emma Watson, zendaya, naomi scott and Ashley Graham as beautiful even though they don't have all the perfect kylie features and come from different races. This is because the human mind finds beauty in others who have confidence in their imperfections. When we think of kylie we think of the desired body or perfect insta girls or even hot (like coffee lol) but not the word beautiful. These girls don't know how beautiful they are because they are not confident . My dad always tells us that nobody is ugly but as long as they groom themselves. All those insta girls take hours to prepare and edit their photos and thats okay, we are blood and bone be confident and don't stress about the little things in life

This is a really powerful video that states a serious topic but while listening it sounded like most of you were insecure about yourself and took it out on the famous people who are/and models. Everyone has a different view of what beauty is, you just have to be yourself and embrace your inner beauty. Blaming the internet for praising other people that are beautiful especially celebs like Kylie Jenner is not the right way to make yourself feel better. Ripping images of models who may or may not be insecure as well won't be a good impression from this video. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and there is no reason to be judging each other if you feel differently about certain beauty standards.

"What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word... Beauty?" Slave. Our present-day beauty standards are enslaving. Women don't have equal rights. In some social circles, men lack natural rights, too. We have natural rights for things like not shaving, not wearing clothes, wearing clothes, shaving, etc. It should be our own personal decision.

Social media has warped our ideas of beauty. I don't do twitter/snapchat/facebook or anything else. KZfaq is my version of social media LOL. I see beauty in individuals, people who are compassionate and caring and funny. I see beauty in every dimple and line and age because that shows we are alive and real and living through everything both past and present. When I see models and images from twitter here on youtube, I see fakeness and masks and nothing appealing. I am me and I am unique, no one else is me and can never be me. Be proud to be YOU. When I saw these people on this documentary, I found them all beautiful, unique and interesting. The fake people are...dull...the same...

No one in India is concerned about beauty , it is a topic of fashion and film industry because general people have very less time on improvising their beauty. A lot of time is given for work job and daily activities. It is a topic of discussion only during marriage. I like the fact that here in indian subcontinent people are not so much connected "emotionally " on beauty subject. Have a life your looks are not gonna run the world and not your life either. Work on greening the grass of your soul.

Kudos to these young people for sharing their stories. However, I find it hypocritical that Teen Vogue and Marc Jacobs are listed in the credits when they help to perpetuate these "societal beauty standards." They have given the Kardashians a platform to redefine beauty through filters and plastic surgeries (ALLEGEDLY), which has left many young men and women insecure and hopeless.

i think society has made us so much fixated on trying to meet unreal standards, especially for women, always made women caged in a bunch of definitions. That too since a long long time. Only recently has it escalated so much due to the media and every product around you shoving it in your face.

This is really sad... I feel sad about this, the girls in the video are actually beautiful, they are beautiful in their own way, in their own characteristic, everyone is beautiful.... look at their gorgeous skin too ❤ Being beautiful is not just having pretty trait on face or perfect body (by standard), it’s a one package, it comes as a whole with the vibrant aura from each person.

It sucks, but I kinda feel guilty for having certain preferences. I like women who is just skinny with their hair body (legs and armpits) shaved, i don’t wanna torture them I just find them pretty. I really don’t care nor am I interested in big booty and plastic face. I don’t want nicki minaj or Kim kardashian wannabes. Do you think I should change the way how I look about women or should I just abolish my preference? And who wouldnt want these women presented in the video. The beauty industry has really Takin it too far.

Hey, it's totally normal to have preferences as long as you value and respect others regardless of what type of beauty they possess 😊

It's not about abolishing your preferences, it's about not pressuring women to fit those preferences too many men seem to find themselves attracted to a woman only to critique every part of her body and your actually emotionally hurting the woman you do that to.

It's true that white people and white features can be pedestaled in the media and I support this vid, however the existence of beautiful white models doesn't detract from the fact that many POC are beautiful. That isn't an either or thing. I think sometimes insecure POC people play into that wider system themselves by perpetuating that "white is better" narrative, even via talking about beauty standards. It is even condescending sometimes. It's also silly to follow the media so much, especially celebs that were popular 10 years ago instead of focusing more on the future. And celeb worship and social media obsession has always been toxic. Representation and more inclusion and praising of POC features/colours is important for sure but so is general mindset and the way we talk about a lot of these topics. Sometimes I see a lot of projection from POC / minorities onto others.

These beauty standards are so stupid in my opinion. Back in the day there were models of all kinds showing that it’s okay to be yourself no matter how you look now it’s just different. Girls: -Wide Hips -Fuller Breast -Bigger Butt -Thin Legs -High levels of Symmetry -High pitched Voice -High Cheek Bones -Act “Lady” Like -Dress “Lady” Like -Etc. Guys: -Skinned toned -Abs -“Strong” in physical appearance -Sharp Jawline -Tall -Muscular -Dress like a “man” -Behave like a “Man -Etc. These lead to starvation, eating disorders, low self esteem, suicide, anxiety, depression, etc. This society is messed up ruining how other people see themselves. We shouldn’t be afraid to stand up to toxic beauty standards.

@@MrALenCar321 That sentence is an acronym for the word M.E.D.I.A. The patrons of commercials advertising goods and services (in the media) sold and provided by multi-million dollar businesses are funding widespread perpetuation of insidious ideologies to impressionable people ACROSS ALL CULTURES AND RACES who also happen to be helpless and susceptible to the absorption of such messages because somehow a huge chunk of this new generation is a demographic of people who don't have real and wise mentors and role models who help develop their characters; they have Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok which inaccurately redefine beauty, wisdom and what it takes to be happy and successful. This is basically what I meant. I never said multiculturalism is wrong - if anything I encourage it😉

Is this supposed to revelatory? Advertising exists. Advertising executives and their corporate overlords choose the standards for everything in the modern world. Your petty personal resentment misses the stark reality of the problem. If you are oppressed by advertising standards you are choosing to give the corporate powers that be power over your self image. Who is really to blame for that? Whatever you do though stop whining and take back the power from the corporate masters and plutocrats.
