I’ve been struggling with an ED for almost 2 years now, and shamefully I’m quite abusive towards myself just because I’m so frustrated and drained, + seeing the stress I’ve given to my parents. I made a drastic change (after I hadn’t left my house in 10 months 🤭) and started living on my own 2 months ago as I’m going into my 2nd year of uni, and at first I actually saw a good change and I was so hopeful but 2 weeks in, the work started piling up and now I’ve just backtracked completely. It’s just depressing because I feel like everything is a trigger (I’m from an Asian country and the beauty standards here are insane) and I can never be truly happy or ‘normal’ again.

I’m one year late to this video but i’m currently going through a strenuous ED diagnosis after years of silently suffering through it, and talking about it with my doctor is the hardest thing i’ve ever done, but my mental health is at an all time low and after a close friend of mine recently got hospitalized (and is honestly alive by a miracle) due to her anorexia i had a wake up call moment where i realized that i was headed to my own grave… the worst part is that to me the binges feel way worse mentally than the purges or the fasts, and it’s as if i lose control entirely over myself when each episode starts… i’m hoping that starting recovery will hopefully help me get rid of these terrible thoughts and the anxiety and depression they cause

Thanks for this! I don't have depression, but I have a myriad of other mental issues. I haven't self-harmed in over a month, but the ED tendencies are there (not binging, but other things). Not lockdown related. We're not in lockdown where I am. I was isolated for a few weeks. For me, I have parents to go to great lengths to try to control my calories and make negative comments about how I look. So then I started overexercising. And it's spiraled a lot recently with the way I'm treated getting worse. Sorry for the infodump.

You've picked an illness or illnesses that really do need professional support and help, a mental health assessment is just an primary tool, eating disorders are soo complex and are unique to every individual I've worked in a psychiatrist clinic which specialised on various mental health issues eating disorders are complicated
@BeBraveBeYouASMR1 Жыл бұрын
Of course they do. That’s the whole point of raising awareness & being exclusive to all. People need support In any way they can. I have complex mental health issues & a history of eating disorders.

It might be a good idea to specify this is for BED, bc for me as someone w bulimia who came to this video for comfort, my anxiety amped up like hell as soon as weight gain was mentioned.
