Well, there isn't much said to her background story. It's more like... That her father isn't an emotional person and he is not taking her and her dreams serious. So she needed to act tough and a bit emotionless just like him, to stand her ground. But she is obviously still a teenager, who just wants the appreciation and love of her father (example: the epside with the act with the girl, who fell in the well!) The girl in the well represented her and her feelings and she wanted to make sure that her father loved it.

She had a VERY messed up childhood, so much so that it wasn’t allowed on the show, though it was intended for the character. She had an overly strict but absent father whose attention she constantly yearned for, but he didn’t like any of her choices, he only understood academic subjects, as he is logically driven. This is all talked about it the programme. But what wasn’t is what I’m going to tell you next. A little birdie told me, that Jade’s mother was the one who primarily looked after her, and that she was abusive, both physically (age 2 - 7) and psychologically (age 8 - 14) Apparently she degraded Jade constantly, telling her things that made her body conscious out of her jealousy. Now, this is where it gets REALLY messed up, so if you’re under 14, please don’t read. So my reliable source told me, that the reason behind her jealousy, was because she thought that this man that she was cheating on her husband (Jade’s Dad) with, was becoming more and more interested in Jade, instead of her. (What is meant by this I don’t know, whether she means as a daughter figure or more sexually interested, either very messed up). And Jade knew about this man (another reason why she felt the need to impress her Dad, to make up for the guilt that he didn’t know). Jade’s Mother degrades her so much, making her feel like such an awful person, that Jade enjoyed inflicting pain on herself, calling it ‘punishment’. But one day one of her teachers caught her with matches, and mistook her burning herself for burning ants, which she swore she would never do. People told her she was a monster, and that she was mean, hence her confidence came from embracing this, and her mean demeanour became a way to mask the pain, and was created out of a need of control, and self worth. If others never got near to her, she felt she couldn’t hurt them, and they couldn’t hurt her. But distancing herself made her lonely, she had no friends until she was 14, which was when she started at Hollywood Arts. Jade’s Mother was pretty much cut off from her life after Jade’s Dad filed for a divorce, when Beck persuaded Jade that the treatment she was getting was not right, and persuaded her to tell her Dad the truth about the affair. So at age 14, Jade lives with her Dad, where she thought she could finally be happier. However, she spoon realised that he had no affection for her, and that they would never grow close, as they never were close. So she relied on friends more heavily. She met Andre first, and then Beck just a few weeks later, who she felt an immediate connection with, but their bond was strengthened after he helped her through her problems (the divorce happening just 3 months into their relationship). She told no-one else about her childhood other than Beck. Not long after this, they met Robbie (and Rex) who Beck, Andre and Jade felt bad for, after Robbie fell over in class in a very embarrassing fashion, and opened up to them about being severely bullied in the past, and the fact that Robbie’s Father wasn’t there for his entire childhood, and his Mother was nasty to him, and paid little attention to him, Jade felt she could relate to, and so she pitied him. All of them grew closer over the next two months, before they met Cat. Cat was lonely because no-one ever wanted to be her friend. The gang saw her all mopey, sitting at a table alone at lunch one day and asked her if she wanted to hang out, she agreed. She told them a lot of things, very randomly, and they soon realised how different she was. Jade by now has completely established her cold act, and people were very much scared of her, she was the only one in the gang to be mean to Cat, which initiated the first big argument between her and Beck. He criticised her for being mean to people, telling her, she can’t take her childhood out on others, which made her extremely angry and went on to call Cat (indirectly) “weird” and “dumb” claiming that she bet her innocence came from a loving family, before ignoring Beck’s texts and calls for days, as well as avoiding him at school. But then, one day, when she came into school, she saw Cat cuddling up closely to a guy who Jade said “had a giant smirk on his face”, the guy was being very flirty with Cat. But later on, Jade overheard him saying horrible things about Cat behind to his friends, behind her back, saying that she was an idiot, and that he wasn’t really dating her. Jade felt sorry for Cat and punched him in the gut, before shaking him, shouting at him, calling him a jerk then pushing him to the ground, and telling him, never to mess with Cat again, or he’d have to answer to her. She later softly explained his to. Cat, and from that day she let Cat hang out with the gang (she had made up with Beck). She soon realised that Cat wasn’t from a loving home, and developed a soft spot for her. So the gang was fully together. But all through this time, Jade was jealous of Beck being around other girls (as they were so flirty with him), especially as sometimes it felt like he was feeding into it, although it was more like, he was just letting it happen. But Jade didn’t like the fact that he attracted so many other girls. She started to become paranoid. The gang joined the Table Tennis team and hung out in the table tennis room, claiming it as their hangout. Then zoop, it skips to when they are 15 / 16, and Tori joins the school. Jade once mentions that as a kid, the hammer was her favourite toy (I assume a way to let out her aggression was to break things). And that she didn’t have a very happy childhood. Jade’s obsession with scissors was only apparently after she watched the scissoring when she was 14, and scissors replaced her love for hammers. So yeah very sad, I’m not allowed to say my source btw but this is the story I assume you were hoping for, and according to my source, it was the background story for the character Jade West. I can't say it's 100% true, but my source is more reliable than most. I'm really sorry I can't tell you where, they wouldn't tell us, even if it was it. D: Even so, it fits her very well. Some things I missed: When she moved with her Dad at age 14, he re-married and his new wife, already had a son, who became Jade's younger brother. Jade resented his new wife, and her dog. She also didn't get on with her Grandmother. And her dad was a promise breaker, he never stuck to one promise. This just explains alot abotu Jade throughout the series, why she's so violent etc. Sorry I can't tell you the source, but I really wanted to tell someone, and none of my friends watched Victorious!
