I truly enjoy your functionality tests. They have proven valuable to me, for they have opened my eyes concerning knives I have thought were of moderate quality. After watching this video of the Becker BK 20, I immediately purchased the knife. The added bonus of receiving two other Becker knives with the BK 20 it outstanding. Thank you again for your entertaining and informative videos.

Once again nice testing and great video. Safety suggestion, when doing pull ups have the sharpened blade facing away from your face - wouldn't want the blade to snap and fling into your neck, that would be nasty. Every time you do your pull ups that image enters my thoughts. Thanks again.
@MayorFuglycools8 жыл бұрын
I have tried facing the blade away from my body, unfortunately It left a gash in my glove from the pressure. That is a good suggestion, but I would have to wrap the edge to prevent the pressure from cutting into my gloves. Thanks for watching friend, I appreciate that you are looking out for me :) Mayor Fuglycool

I was reading the comments and it actually wouldn't be bad to see how well the knife can re-sharpen. I've bought knives that you cannot sharpen for anything (usually it's a carving knife, kinda ironic). How well a knife sharpens can tell a lot about the blade, and how well the knife was made.

The BK5 is an awesome all around camp knife.. If cutting is your game that knife excells. One of my all time favorite Becker/Fisk designs and one of the oldest in the line-up. I had one made by Blackjack many moons ago and stupidly sold it on Ebay about seven years ago because it had been discontinued when Camillus went under and the price i got for it was way more then i had paid.. It had a cool hole in the tang which a pin in the sheath passed through to retain it in the leather sheath.

Hey, Loving the videos. Entertaining and educational. I would like to suggest a knife. THe schrade bushcraft knives. Decent quality, affordable, and attractive i think. THe optional knives are Schf56L or the 51 or 52. THe 52 seems your style. Schrade seems to be in everyones pocket but no one tests them like you do
@Andromacky8 жыл бұрын
+Cricket Just Cricket 56 would be cool, its new design and one I personally really enjoy and only $35 canadian so its probably under 30 in the states. The 52 is jjust a beast, I have the previous model the 37 and only $60 canadian. Both are thick knives so it would be cool to get your testing done

ontario marine raider is almost similar while bk 20 is longer with full tang , almost as wide as bottom part of the blade but as per kabar specs Bk20 weighs 612 grams while marine raider is around 635 grams, is it because 1095 cro van steel vs simple 1095 marine raider has?

How much did you pay for the knife? And how comfortable is the knife after using it after an extended amount of time chopping with it? Does it feather well or baton easily? How long does the edge hold up after longer use? How is the weight after carrying it on long hikes? How well does it handle smaller, finer task, like making notches for traps or stakes? Will it throw sparks with a ferro rod? What kind of carry options does the sheath offer?
@sonfoku738 жыл бұрын
dude slow down honestly half of those things u asked are based on personal preference and a persons skill with the knife
@paulwest81928 жыл бұрын
He's reviewing the knife, those are the things I need to know before I consider buying one. I haven't held or used the knife, he has. If he's used and review it, he would know, I hope. A knife does alot more than just break stuff, right?
@sonfoku738 жыл бұрын
Ok through my own experience yes it chops pretty good, i guess, for a long period of time, does baton well, feathers pretty good (note: the things i said until now are personal preference i find fulk flat grinds dont work well on a chopper they tend to cause drag when batoning, bites way too deep for feathersticking, and it doesnt bust out chunks of wood as well as saber grinds. Thats why i said knives are personal preference full flat grinds dont apoeal to me not sure about u), edge holds up nice for a long period of time, an entire day but seriously just learn to strop or sharpen. The weight will depend on how u carry it but its pretty good. Does finer work great for a knife this size. Wont throw sparks outta the boc but seriously you're an idiot if that turns u off just get a file.
@MayorFuglycools8 жыл бұрын
I paid 200$, came with BK4 and BK5 knives during the promotion. Knife is very comfortable, the weight helps it chop easily. Feathers really well, batons like a champ. Edge retention is good, like 1095 steel. I have carried it on two 5 mile hikes, it really carries the same as the BK9. Notches are possible, but a smaller companion knife is better for that task. Yes, the blade will throw sparks. I have not purchased an aftermarket sheath yet, but the standard one is kinda wearing on me. I prefer kydex or leather, the nylon one that it comes with is kinda mediocre. Thanks for watching friend ! :) Mayor Fuglycool

may I make a suggestion that you do a three cut test on traditional tatami omote? One of the reason's is that at full roll of tatami bamboo matt that is soaked for 24 hrs with a bamboo core equates to the resistance of a good sized human limb ( usually a thick forearm ) the other reason is that the resulting cut can tell you a lot about the way the blade grabs at initial contact, and how it performs as it travels through the material. Kindest RegardsDennis Saint Aubin
@MayorFuglycools8 жыл бұрын
That is a good suggestion. For the larger knives , it would be prefect. I will see if I can get the tatami mats, and integrate them into the test. Thanks for watching ! Mayor Fuglycool

I think the BK20 fits that role very well. I am growing to like that blade, because it is just so versatile. BK9 is a good choice as well, but in my op a little too short for batoning good sized logs. The Glock 78 knife also gets a mention, and the SP6 is also a great choice for general all around survival. +Mayor Fuglycool I'd like to see how a Cold Steel Trail Master (the newer, Taiwanese made in O-1 steel) would fare in the Mayor Fuglycool Destruction Test. The Trail Master is a pretty iconic big blade with a great reputation but still some questionable aspects such as the rubber handle coming loose or the transition area where the tang is cut narrower than the blade right underneath the brass guard as being a structural weak point. Maybe you have access to one? If I had an extra $150 laying around, I'd buy one for you to test! "TO THE CHOPPAH...NEEOWW!" Lolz ^_^

Grippy McJimping Yeah, the trail master has been in limbo for a while. . . I have seen other Cold Steel knives fail before, and I have put the brand off for a little while. I could try to get to that blade next year, but currently I have so much lined up that it is hard to get around to that. I will try though :) Mayor Fuglycool

it would be great if you could do a partnership with kabar. they would be pretty pleased to see the people realize how strong and powerful their knives are after watching your videos.
@MayorFuglycools8 жыл бұрын
+Vlad Popovici Well, I cannot do partnerships with any companies, mainly because I am trying to stay as fair as possible. It would be awesome, but in reality I have to stay neutral to deliver the most unbiased test. For example, if I was partnered with OKC, chances are they would have tried to change out the chimera with a "best" production version to prevent breakage. I buy them or receive donations, which equates to pretty much random chance blade from the production line. Mayor Fuglycool

How about testing a budget blade? Maybe test the Mtech USA MT-096. It would be interesting to see how the 440(A?) holds up. Some vloggers (like Tactical) say they've beaten the crap out of it and they don't break.
