I carried a SOG Tigershark Aus 6 made in Seki Japan through Iraq, through all my training and still use it. I would bet my life on that one. But the new SOG's make me wonder about the build quality but that steel looks pretty tough. GREAT VIDEO MAN KEEP IT UP!!!

@@MayorFuglycools And here we sit 22 hours later, and I am now the proud owner of a SOG Seal Pup thanks to this video. ☺ Already quite happy with my purchase! Something not mentioned in videos I've seen of it yet, but I'm amazed at how comfortable this thing is on the belt. I honestly can't even tell it's there, and it gets perfectly out of the way when sitting down. An all-around wonderful knife. Thanks again, Mayor Fuglycool! o7

if i had to have a knife to carry with me to the gun range to pry bullets out of the gun when it fails to eject or double feed, what knife would you recommend, something big for sturdiness? something small to get in the chamber? any particular brand or model?

Normally for fire I just use pine and make feathersticks by pushing down it. With a sharp enough blade on pine, you can get feathers that are 4 inches long and you can get a lot of them, so one stick means one fire.
@MayorFuglycools6 жыл бұрын
Cool thanks man, will look for some pine around here. It's pretty rare in these parts of the Texas Jungle though. Mayor Fuglycool
@bobbyhill41186 жыл бұрын
Mayor Fuglycool other woods will work, pine has flammable resin throughout the branches, when it gets cut it will leak this resin and it will eventually harden to keep out bugs and anything that wants to feast on it, any softwood will make good feathersticks. You can even make torches and fire starters from pure resin that leaks through the trees trunk. (Its the stuff that makes your hands sticky).

Just found your videos today. I'm not too sure I agree with the weight-based tests with this particular knife (the 2x4 and both brick tests). I own the SOG Seal, and, to be blunt, these are manufactured to be weapons and nothing more. I'd definitely look elsewhere for a bushcraft/survival knife, but for a weapon, these are fantastic. They're light, fast, and extremely durable.

@@MayorFuglycools GREAT videos by the way. You're doing awesome! What would be your best pick of knife for rust resistant bushcraft backpacking near water (river, stream, ocean, big sur California, costa rica, catalina)? Baton chopping wood, turning tree branches into smaller pieces for fire. I liked your destruction tests on the Seal Team knife, the Marine Raider and the Glock 81. But they all seem like they wouldn't do too well hiking in rivers or through/up/down waterfalls. 🤷♂️ I'm thinking something more 304 stainless steel, and less of the 1095 carbon knifes. But something in 304 stainless that has a thicker spine like .20 ", .25" ?? A knife blade of around 7" - 10" would be ideal for my scenario. What are your thoughts?

I have had the seal pup for a few years now, have only taken her out into the bush once, reason being like you said it is far too light to be even close to an efficient Chopper and my Mora slices through wood with much more eaze. After all the seal pup was designed as a fighting knife so light is a good thing. It is overall an excellent knife, definitely no one tool option. When I go out I bring my Mora Light My Fire knife for fine detail work like feather sticks and my Ontario rat 7 for batoning... . Thanks for the video Playboy, surprised me that she bent. What knife are you reviewing next? Thanks. : ) Tyler
@MayorFuglycools8 жыл бұрын
Well, I think that the Glock knife, and Ontario MK3 navy knife are both tied for the next test. Thanks for the feedback, and I do agree that the Mora seems more suited for bushcraft.
