ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from college, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

I still get e-mails from one of my old rabbis, and I'm still very fond of him. Mazel Tov on you receiving Yeshua Hamaschiach as your Lord and Saviour, Mr. Maxwell. Shalom. Ask them what Zechariah 12:10 means. Have you shared the gospel with this Rabbi? When I was saved 28 years ago and my daughter was in a “Temple” preschool (I dont call it that bc the temple was a place of sacrifice), I decided to ask the Rabbi about Jesus in a roundabout way, because I’d been studying the prophecies of Messiah and the Bible for several months and was convinced Jesus was the Messiah), and the Rabbi said that God didn’t make him. That his mothers egg and his fathers sperm did. I was shocked. He didn’t even believe in creation! The largest temple in the town. I think once you share the gospel with him, he won’t be too eager to continue a relationship. I have a Chabad Rabbi in my neighborhood. He opened one a few miles from his father’s place. I see all his white shirts delivered to his home and all the Kosher food. I have tried to dialogue with him about scripture and he just won’t go there. The gig is too good- the money is too good. Jewish people are seeking and sadly that is where they are ending up. S Florida is now loaded with non observant Jews reaching pout to Chabad thinking they are the example to follow. It’s very sad. Zechariah 12:10- they will never say who is being pierced. I asked the Rabbi this 4 years ago and still no answer. He does say “Oh I think thats a prophetic verse”. Ok, for who??? I lost my entire family when I believed at 38. My Kosher brother would not let his kids stay with me in my large house I built for out of towners. Because my kitchen and home isnt Kosher. He has not in 28 years allowed me to share the gospel, it’s a religious spirit. I hope you get bold with the Rabbi. I have many more stories to tell. Maybe Becket will let me be a guest lol.

@@maryowen1722 Our sins are what nailed Him, Our Saviour, to The Cross. Taylor and I, and others of Jewish ancestry, our ancestors, once yelled for Barrabas, and then handed him over to the Romans, but it was our sins, all of our sins, that nailed Him to The Cross.

@@alyssaguzman777 You are referring to the Jewish Torah. It's in Genesis (Bereshith), about the 'sins of the father' being passed on to the 3rd. or 4th. generation; but Jesus broke the curse from being passed on by His sacrifice on the cross, and by His blood atonement on our behalf. Instead, many of my ancestors chose to 'yell for Barrabas' instead (sigh).

Hi 👋 I am in my sixties. I can remember feeling attracted to a girl at school at age 12 . And yet by the time I was 14 I was experiencing attraction to boys. The SSA was strong. I identified as a gay man. I never connected with a female. I wasn't interested. I still have SSA , but I don't want any connection with another man. I have handed my life over to the lord. It's for him only to help in all areas of my life.

Keep your focus on Christ, and really finding IDENTITY in being a Christian, and everyday, every thought, every action is done to bring glory to Christ. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, The Fathers Grace, the Holy Spirit’s discernment, and the moral la s of character strength, (kindness, humility, hospitality, love, friendship, honesty) and those can start with your own self. When the mere thought enters your mind, immediately pray and ask the Lord to remove that sinful desire to harm yourself. Maybe install accountability software or block it. But in the end you have to overcome the thought long before it becomes a temptation. There are a few Pastors that have ministries on this specifically. Stay strong in Faith, God Bless

A similar thing happened to me. In 1970, my family moved to a new house. We were a Jewish Family, Mom, Dad, Older Sister, me. They found a Fundamental Independent Baptist High School nearby. My Mom went to them in August (in Calif schools started on the 1st day after Labor Day). She got all of the paperwork and a School Secretary asked her if they had a Church? My Mom said we were Jewish. They said "OK," and invited us all to the next Sunday services. We sat there and all heard the Gospel for the very first time. At the Altar Call, I went down the aisle 1st (I was 14), my Sister (18) went next, then my Dad, and finally my Mom. We all accepted Christ as our Savior and His blood atonement. ALL of our lives changed that day! I struggled with having a Jewish background, among people who could not tie the "Old" and "New" Testaments...together. When I was 25, I began to keep the Sabbath and Passover again. And by the time I was 28, my wife and I fully realized that we could be fully Jewish and fully Christian, and there was nothing weird about that. It's an interesting life and not understood by either Traditional Jews or Traditional Christians.

I met a guy online who confessed that he was a progressive Christian, which I had no idea about, at the time. I started researching it, and the more I found out, the more uncomfortable I felt. I now believe that it was God who wanted to warn me about something. We ended up dating for a while until he came out to me as gay and explained that he had been trying to date women but believed he was born that way. We ended up breaking up, he told me he wanted to live his authentic life and his desire was to "marry" a guy someday. At that point, I realized that it is what progressive Christianity teaches, which is the total opposite of God's word that teaches us to put identity in Christ, willing to die to ourselves and deny ourselves to follow Him. It is a really dangerous teaching that leads people astray to a total depravity. I feel sad and sorry for people who are going in that direction. To my surprise, even though the experience was painful, I didn't end up hating him for every thing happened. Instead, I felt more love and compassion for him. I've been praying and fasting for God to soften his heart, open his eyes, and lead him to the truth and repentance. It breaks my heart to see what the enemy is doing in his life. He is just lost and needs to be saved. If you can, please pray for him too. I believe in radical transformation, like what happened with Becket. God's work isn't finished yet. Thanks and God bless.

It's amazing hearing how God has always had answers to Taylor's questions. He realized he did not commit Jewish suicide when he started following Jesus. Praise Jesus for that wonderful teacher who was truthful when he was questioning his same sex attraction. By telling him he wasn't born gay and then still loving him by taking him to church on Sunday. The seeds of truth we plant to others could have an extraordinary impact on someone's life. We must never stop speaking Biblical truths even at the fear of offending others and Taylor is a testament to truth. We all struggle with terrible sin and Satan's attacks are more damaging because he wants to separate us from Jesus. We need more men like Becket and Taylor! I needed to hear this podcast. I don’t struggle with same sex attraction but I do struggle with lustful desires. For years I have been single and struggled with masturbation, despite being a devout Christian. I was pretty much able to kick looking at porn but I have another fetish that isn’t found in porn necessarily, but in everyday life. I’m in a committed relationship now and I love my girlfriend but I can feel the enemy trying to draw me back into old habits. Trying to tell me the relationship isn’t worth the trouble and I’m better off worrying about myself. I still get these lustful intrusive thoughts regarding my fetish. I am transparent about my vices with my girlfriend and she understands but I still feel guilty for basically struggling with mental adultery. I’m still working on it though. I’m not going to let shame stop me from following Jesus Christ. Kicking bad habits takes time and I will trust in Him. And if I relapse, I will repent and try again.

Being born-again is our success story from the rudiments of this world. If we do not come to realize what the born-again experience entails, we miss the greatest fact: we no longer belong to this world system, otherwise as we live in this world without being born from above leaves us part and parcel of this world rebellion from God. Look at all the strategies of Satan to keep us aloof from God. It is so important for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to enter that wonderful life of separating from this world. It is not easy but it is a fact and we can be victorious in this. Praise God for JESUS and the Holy Spirit! How wonderful He is!!!

@@jamesg3808 I'm confused. I'm a Christian with SSA as my primary sin struggle, but why would you say having lust for the opposite sex is better than homosexual desires? Both fall under "sexual immorality". Are there different experiences with different sin struggles? Yes. But to put different sins in a ranking order is strange to me, especially when any and all sin is compared to the holiness of God.

We have a church in Canada that is led by a gay pastor. He has stated that “we no longer save souls, we build community!” Of course it is a large church building with stain glasses windows and oak pews etc. I doubt that congregation would accept anything less than the best. But the best is yet to come and I fear it won’t be theirs.

@@lloyannehurd That's too bad. I'm sorry to hear that. I was born on September 19th.; and by the Jewish calender of the year I was born it was Erev Sukkos (Tishrei 15), also known as 'The Feast Of Tabernacles'. Brian Epstein, who was also Jewish and 'gay' was also born on September 19th,, and the year he was born it was also Yom Kippur. Until recent years, Leviticus 18:22 was part of the Yom Kippur service. When Brian died, they found a copy of Noah Gordon's "The Rabbi" by his body. It's about a Jewish rabbi who falls in love with a Christian woman.

WOW, I am blown away by this testimony. Recently I was listening to some of Preston Sprinkle's channel content and truthfully I was kinda convinced maybe there could be such a thing as a gay christian... but this testimony illustrates to me in a very powerful way, what true repentance and healing look like. The difference between this man and some of Preston's interviewees is that Taylor, despite his struggles, remained steadfast in his faith in God´s Word as authoritative. He didnt try to bend it to justify his SSA... he recognized SSA as sinful and did everything he could by God's grace, to renew his mind and submit his sexuality to God's Truth... not the other way around. This corresponds so well to how I see the sanctification process take place in any other Christian's life struggling with any other sin. I mean this is just so much like the way God sanctifies us in any other area of sinful struggles... be it pride, or envy, or anger or lust or whatever. What a powerful testimony! Edit. I LOVE Taylor's sincerity 😄

What an enjoyable 40 minutes. I wished it was an even longer video. This young man is so solid and a voice for this generation. God is reaching into the homosexual/trans world and speaking His truth and freedom…any who will listen will find life and freedom and God’s presence. We all have our struggles. There are sins I too struggle with. I ask God to take them away but it is in the battle to choose Holy Spirit over flesh that I’m made stronger. And like Becket said, “His Grace is sufficient. His mercies are new everyday!!! Only He can save. I cannot save myself, yet I have to fight the sin that tries to ensnare me daily. God bless
