Surprise! We bought land! Now that summer is on the way we figured it was time to spill the beans, especially because we'll be spending lots of time here. We rented a brush hog and today we cleared a trail by ourselves through the woods where our future cabin will be!

So exciting! I'm very excited to follow your journey. We bought raw land in central Vermont in 2021 and we plan to build a net zero passive house. The first year we put in a very solid 100ft driveway and worked through the site plan and permits. Last year we felled 350 trees to clear a house site, built a septic system, pulled in power, and drilled a well so now we are comfortable staying on our property in our RV. This year we are starting to build a utility building. Let us know if you have any questions. You have an exciting journey in front of you. P.S. If you plan to fell any trees yourself, take the Game of Logging training. Highly recommend.

How did I never expect this??? I've never clicked so quickly on a new video, this is exciting! A little dream of mine: buy land somewhere in Sweden or Norway and build a little house for the holidays - a lake nearby would be the cherry on top. Somehow owning land is such a substantial step in your existence, I don't really now why but it's just cool. I love to see you really "do" stuff, all the building and reno vlogs are great so this will be awesome, too. Also, I wish pickup trucks would be more of a thing here in Europe, they really are just so handy compared to trailers. And, I have to say, I'm so glad that you guys actually care about protection from whatever requires it, like the chain saw for example, there are so many people out there doing wanky stuff...

Reminded me of our family cabin in the mountains of Montana. Closest power is several miles away, as well as neighbors. This should be a great project for you. A great support to fly into a well. You will have to be a bit more cautious with the trees.

For ticks, I highly recommend Permethrin. You treat your clothes with it and let them set for a few hours in the sun and they are good for several washes. If a tick gets on those close, they die.

Also, get that trail covered in gravel ASAP! You can pore concrete over it in the future... did this on a couple raw land projects. 10/10

Looks like this was last August or September based on the goldenrod. I'm sure you've had a lot more fun out there since then. We built a log cabin kit in 2017, from EZ Log Structures. Best house we've ever lived in.

You normally make well thought out videos with good story telling, but this was lacking… some context would have been nice…like the search to find land, where is the land (Canada or US), etc. Buying land and planning your next big project is exciting! Wish you luck and look forward to more videos.
