A great way I’ve got my score up in the past few years is PayPal pay In 3. I had an awful score and am nearing a perfect score pretty much solely from using this on a monthly basis. Couldn’t get a credit card originally and worked whilst my score was really low (not sure how PayPal are with new users though, I’ve been a PayPal customer for a long time.) it’s been super handy though has been a bit of a hit and miss as occasionally it dips the score by a small amount but goes up, watching this video makes it all make a lot more sense though!

Look at the USA debt 💸 this is different,I never bought anything in credit,only save and buy ,and guess what ? My credit history is not exist ,I can’t get even 650£ debt in my Barclays what I use for 10 years,that’s why you need to make your credit HISTORY to make it visible for them that you takes money and pays them in time

It's really a social credit score. They want you to borrow money to be able to borrow more money. They want to trap you paying them interested forever by giving you a high score.
@VampiraVonGhoulscout
@VampiraVonGhoulscout Ай бұрын
And it's especially annoying when the company you are paying bills to won't listen to you and gets you in trouble for their mistakes. Every month without fail, I had to ask Three mobile to charge me on the same day I got paid. They told me they changed the payment date for it and every month without fail, they would charge me a couple of days before and complain that my balance was too low, and then my score would drop because they messed up. So my score was being wrecked for something that wasn't even my fault!

As always, valuable suggestions, which is more doable. Having access to excessive credit cards amount (let's say got 3 credit cards, spending hasn't increased) overall spending percentage dips. Is it advisable to reduce credit limit among them rather canceling (if still using those credit cards) OR not much worth reducing credit limit? Would like to see your take on it. Thanking you in advance 🙏

I’m getting a credit card soon to use for general daily expenses for the sake of racking up membership points. My partner will be given a supplementary card so that he can also help with racking up the points. I know for sure that we are both financially disciplined and will be able to pay off the monthly repayments on our credit and purchases. If we almost max out our credit, will our credit score drop, despite paying the credit card off every month without any default? If so, is it worth increasing the credit limit just so our credit utilisation will be at around 30%?

Hay Andy, I've just discovered your channel and have been watching a number of your vids as they're good content. Question for you: does having more current accounts bolster your score or is it neutral? I've had my main account for over 15 years and am certainly not getting shot of that, but I do have another account that was set up about 7 years ago but that I've not used for 3 years. Would it be a good idea to use this as "dummy" from which to benefit from a switch or would I be best off leaving it open given the time I've had it? Thanks.

very informative video Andy. Thank you ever so much. I have 2 questions however, There are some unrecognised checks appearing on my experian account and you mentioned that there are Hard Checks and Soft Checks, so my question 1 is how do I know which is hard check and which is soft check? in other words, I understand that Hard Checks are visible to the other potential lenders and Soft Checks are only visible to me, but How do I know which check is visible to the other potential lenders and which check doesnt? Question 2, Is it ok companies to just randomly check your credit score even soft and is it worth calling them and to say leave me alone? :) I would be grateful to get an answer either from you or someone who can answer it for me but if not still grateful for the information I got from the video.

I have never had a credit card before and I only need one to get a good credit score by the end of the next year. From my understanding from this video, I need to use under 30% of my limit and pay in full as soon as possible. Is there any card that doesn't charge me any rate if I repay it immediately? Andy, I wonder if you can explain how the credit searches. This site shows you all 3 agencies, my questions are: 1) I have noticed 4 soft searches on my file against my name for my previous address which I am not aware of at different times over the last two years, I raised a query with check my file (I have free 30 trial), they said I need to contact the companies directly which I will do, I am wondering if searches are or can be linked to previous address ? 2) the reason I ask is I have not applied for a new credit card with a certain lender this month but my partner has (we both live at the same address), this has now popped up as a soft search - do the agencies search the address, and or anyone ever linked to that address should this be anything to worry about?

Questions for point number 2: Does that mean direct debit payments like Spotify, the gym or even an your own ISA are checked for if you pay in full on time? So missing one of these payments may affect your credit score? Point 4: For consistency - making a social media account or a new account with a shopping website, my email, number and address stays the same but sometimes i use my nickname or first letter of my name to protect some of my privacy.. will that affect my score? Or does this only apply to identity specific records like university and job applications?

Hi Andy, This might be a naive question, but I would like to know if fully paying off something could affect the buying protection you get from using a credit card. For example, say I paid for flights (not a package holiday) for a trip in a few months. I paid using a credit card and can pay it off now. However, I want to make sure I can charge back the flight money should covid restrictions prevent me from going and the Non-EU/UK airline takes the piss with a refund. Will fully paying off the flights now limit the buying protection I have? Thank you.
@monk3yboy69
@monk3yboy69 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kyle. The short answer is no. Any purchase made on your credit card is protected under the Consumer Credit Act. It does not matter if the purchase is paid off or not. That is the main reason for having a credit card . It protects you from bad retailers.

Sadly not, it'll be based on the lender the sofa company uses (rather than the sales man himself). I'd check all three reports though to make sure there's not a glaring error on one which could be the reason.

So I had been using klarna a lot last year and early this year. There were a few payments I didn't make on time and I've noticed my credit score has dropped. @kerr4926 Yep, buy now day later providers like Klarna are dangerous. If you miss payments. In the future, just use traditional credit cards with a long interest-free period. But, keep your spending in check. By not regularly going above the 25% threshold. It shows to these credit rating agency's your too dependent on credit.

These do not matter at all. It does not play any role in improving your score or increase your afordibiity. What type of credit card you hold, which bank is it with and how much the limit is does not matter, As long as you MANAGE it well and pay off the full balance each month. I am speaking from a place of experience. I used to have more than 5 credit cards and credit limit of over £20k. I was trying to pay off my debt for over 10 years and have read every trick and tip thats out there. So just apply for any credit card with any bank as long as the interest rate is low. Each month pay off the FULL BALANCE or At least minimum payment and you shall see increase in your credit score.

Don't waste your time opening an account with Experian. They'll do nothing for you rather proving inaccurate information about your credit which I assume they also send to the lenders.

@@davierae1690 it's still down but I have learned that the score is only for you. Lenders don't look at your score they only look at your borrowing history to determine wether or not you are reliable. To pay it back. Apparently your score Always goes down when taking credit and will go up over time. But I'm yet to see an increase

I have just moved out from my parents house. I have one bank account registered at my old address and one registered at my new address. My credit rating is terrible at my new address but great at my parents house thoughts?
@BeCleverWithYourCash
@BeCleverWithYourCash 2 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't have different credit scores based on your address... do you mean it dropped a lot when you moved? A few things could be making an impact. One, did you have to get new bills sorted? Things like energy and insurance direct debits will have required hard credit checks, which will knock your rating. You'll also need to change all the old addresses to the new one, otherwise the inconsistency will hurt your score

@@BeCleverWithYourCash So at my old address the eligibility checkers are saying I'm 8 out of 10. At my new address is giving me a 2 out of 10. Yes, lots of direct debits and one bad debt at the new address and only a 20 year old bank account at the old address. Should I use my old address to secure credit cards etc?

I have £39000.00 of available credit across my 6 credit cards. My credit score is excellent ( 976) on CreditExpert. I spend on 1 main card monthly and pay it down in full. Any card that gets spent on will get paid in full when the statement arrives. So too much available credit is a bit of a myth.

I have a credit card with £2000 limit and was told to only use £100 every month to keep my credit score healthy! What the hell? Does not make any sense. I pay it off in full every month so it shouldn't matter. I don't even need a credit card and only have one to raise my credit score after I purchased a house! Stupid rules.
@BeCleverWithYourCash
@BeCleverWithYourCash 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's quite low. You could afford to spend more on it each month, up to £400 or £500 to stay under 25% utilisation. But only if you need to!
