Becoming a Full Time Artist with Sharon Griffin

Sharon Griffin is a full time artist who makes her living making ceramic sculptures. Just 4 years ago Sharon didn’t believe she could make this happen, her work was diverse and she had no clue how to make her art a living.
Sharon made all this happen whilst solo parenting 2 children, dealing with huge challenging life events, having come from an underprivileged childhood and moments where she couldn’t even afford to buy milk.
She has gone from zero to £44,000 in sales last year and in the last 6 months alone her art has brought in over £30,000 in sales, meaning this year will be a record year as she still has 5 exhibitions to go!
Sharon is an inspiration to us all that you can make a living as an artist.
In this video Sharon shares the highs, lows and the biggest lessons that got her to where she is today.

Brilliant! Thank you both!! Sharon, I started with pottery and teaching in South Africa and now I live in Ireland and am painting. I do need a studio as it is a work place. You are right. Thank you!! I do not have enough contacts and I am tied. Not easy. The advice about MINDSET, yes! I have some thinking to do!! Thank you both. Until tomorrow Michelle. I hope my painting got through

Can so relate , I worry about having a butterfly brain!, thought it was just me! Thank you for this, very encouraging. I grew up in Shropshire, didn't realise you were local. Massive fan of your figures Sharon

You guys are so easy to listen too, thank you for your advice so far. I can so relate to what you are saying about following your heart and that as ‘one door closes another one opens’. People have been so positive and complimentary about my work and I am selling, but it’s an uphill struggle. Going to try some art fairs this year and see how I go. Like you say you can’t please everyone all the time, but more positive than negative comments so far, I have a passion for what I do and I will keep on going 🙌. You are amazing that you are offering your advice for FREE as most others want paying, I am soaking in all your positivity and am going to enjoy your two week course.

Thank you for this video. It's great to see someone who was sort of in my current position, branch out and become the opposite of their past mindset. It's hard and this inspired me more.

Wow... Thanks so much for this, ladies. I only managed to watch this one video before they're all taken down tonight, but it was the right one. I've been looking for single mother artists who are making their living from art and I can't say I've found others, or at least ones who identify themselves as such. This interview has been very helpful, as I relate to many of your 'before' points, Sharon. Thank you both for the support and positive messages 😊
