Syd~ I'm a black girl and your comments about feeling really uncomfortable with your hair and stuff really hit me. you might not have meant it this way. But there have been so many times when I dress up with friends and feel like I'm the only one thats uncomfortable. You help me want to break out of my comfort zone too :3

I see you, sis!! Honestly her talking about that took me back to a college event I did with my sorority (predominately white). Trying to get my very kinky hair to be done in the same style as theirs was a challenge and I felt self-conscious about it. Syd being vulnerable about her experience definitely helps me feel seen. ❤️❤️

You hair looked 100% like a traditional Japanese style, and didnt look out of place or birds nest-y at all! It is a bit tough bc those style are designed for straight hair but it looks like the stylist had a good eye! I get feeling uncomfortable tho and the 2nd hairstyle was super cute too! Also the purple flowers on Celines yukata were wisteria flowers :D in Japanese those flowers are called fuji (the same as Mnt Fuji) and stand for longevity/long life & wisdom. The flowers on Syd's yukata are morning glories or asagao & represent young/budding love

Normalize being black in Japan!!! You’re a young black gal really out here, doin the do + a streamer too. Not a lot ppl can relate to what you’re feeling/your experiences. But be confident Syd!! let people judge. Because at the end of the day you’re that b!! Your hair was and is gorgeous, + the hairstyle wasn’t ugly. Keep doin you!! Head held high! I would look into black communities in Japan! I’ve seen some reddits/Yt vids on the black experience it might help to speak & connect with them (:

These vlogs have all been so good. Syd's vlogging is just nice to listen to, between just talking about how she's feeling and being super insightful in Japan. The editor is also just straight amazing, they are helping to make these so entertaining, and with such a quick turnaround.

been loving these vlogs - i miss japan so much, i enjoy seeing you and OTV there because it is a lot different than when i went with my sister. We stuck to the less touristy things and are vegan, so our experience was much different, but I've been loving what you guys have been up to!

I am laughing my butt off at the Gnarls Barkley clip. Also, I remember I spent literally one day in Kyoto as part of a school Exchange program and that river looks exactly the same as I remember it. I'm Curious if they went to the Golden Pavilion, but there is SO much to do in Kyoto that I would understand if they had other things to do instead.
