This old building was in really bad shape, literally falling apart. Lots of rot, termite damage, part of the roof caved in etc...
Couldn't be torn down because bees were living in one of the wall voids adjacent to an old bathroom.
A friend of mine, Darcy Jones lended me a hand on this removal & the bees wound up going to her.
Ms. Donleen, the home owner is a very cool lady who I've done bee work for before. Darcy & I were happy to help her out with this project, good times all around.
Ordinarily, I don't do that many bee removals during the winter unless the bees have to go & always remove them during a warm up period. The colony had to go & we were definitely in a warm up period in December nonetheless!

It was a great cutout - you helped two ladies in the process - which of course does not include the bees. I think Darcy has the potential to be a great beekeeper - so congrats that. And thank you for the education. Of course, i liked the look too!

You gonna have to educate those bees and have them catch up on their reading, JP, so they know how many queens to keep around and how to behave around the smoker before you give them back! :-) On a more serious note, in a lecture at the UK National Honey Show, given by an academic I can't remember, it was pointed out that everyone always stops looking once they've found "the" queen, so not many people realise it's actually more common to have more than one than most beekeepers suspect. This academic had his grad students keep on looking, and found that 7% of hives had multiple queens at any given time. Some may have been supercedures in progress, others due to a swarm being delayed so a new queen emerges before the old one leaves, but many appeared to be perfectly stable, and a few even had more than two.

@@Nirrrina The UK National Honey show has its own channel here on YT, and many lectures are on there, I haven't seen any that aren't worth a watch, and even if it takes a while to work through them, it is well worthwhile. So you can still see that lecture if you want to badly enough to sit through a lot of very fascinating hours of academic and practical research into all the aspects of honey bee biology, behaviour, pathology, management and so on to find the right bit.

I am fascinated watching you do these bees nests I have watched a few of your films, I think you are magnificent I don't know anything about bees I know they like to sting me I do tend to react to them too I love watching them on the screen but in real life I dont think I would be any good take care, my name is Debbie from across the pond I live in Rugby England thanks for sharing these beez take care Debbie xx

We look at women together and she will point out girls and tell me to look at them but never has she ever acknowledged another man. Dudes try to talk another she don’t respond dudes dm her she don’t respond. I even try to get her to like male celebrities and she still wont acknowledge them. Only celebrity she has said is cute is odell and pop smoke. So with all that being said i dont believe im the simp in the situation sir. Great as always to see the removal of bees from the confined space. Could you show in a future production what happens next and then follow the process to extract honey for resale/sale.

Very nice removal. I’m not sure Darcy is ready for Bee keeping though . If one crawling on her makes her drop some comb. . What will happen when she gets a hive that’s aggressive and they start stinging the heck out of her. Just my observation but a pic is worth a thousand words Right ? Nice job though bud.
