Honored to be "The Guy" archiving this info, Tom! It was initially mysterious to me too, which is why I brought Mel Disselkeon to Charlotte for a Saturday seminar 5 years ago...was pretty sure I had it down by that point, but there's no substitute for being taught first-hand in your own bee yard!!! Bonus was taking Mel to lunch and dinner to talk one-on-one through basically, his entire book and wholistic management program. Definitely felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity! LESSON: Never shy away from reaching out to the "Big Guys." I've never had one turn me away!

Fantastic, George! You raise a critical point. I always recommend owning TWICE the gear you think you'll need as a bare minimum. Depending on specific flows where you are, that's likely 5-6 boxes per complete hive setup, plus one or two nuc setups per hive. Sounds excessive to some, but it's ALWAYS better to be prepared rather than scrambling ;-) Best, Andrew Thiessen
