In honor of Beethoven's 250th anniversary, the CymaScope team offer an excerpt from his Piano Sonata Number 8, Opus 13, "Pathetique", played by gifted concert pianist, Daniel Levy, and with his permission. The complex and beautiful cymatic geometry embedded in Beethoven's gorgeous melody are revealed for the first time by CymaScope instrument, using state-of-the-art techniques by James Stuart Reid. For viewers unfamiliar with this scientific-artistic technique, the imagery is the actual geometry of music imprinted onto pure water and is not computer generated. (Do make sure that you view this in HD by visiting the cog wheel on your KZfaq screen.)

This is awesome, beautiful and magical. I enjoy watching it, but at the same time these images make me realize that I do not understand anything ... Really important to adjust the highest resolution, as you say, to see all the beauty. Thank you!!!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. And I agree, the more we discover the less (we come to realise) we know!

@@cymascope4986 There is an extraordinary composition played by Thelonious Monk. Monk's playing involves numerous broken chords - aka Arpeggios during a recording of Straight, No Chaser. The tune runs 11:28. In order listen closely to the pianist's work in this recording, I must turn the balance all way over to the left channel. It is worth listening to in that way because it reminds me of the patterns evident in the marvellous video of a piece by Beethoven that you have posted here.

Are Beethoven's musical cymascope patterns any more beautiful or distinguishable in any way from other types of music?
@CymaScope
@CymaScope 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Jason, we have a saying with the CymaScope instrument: Beauty in = Beauty out. Therefore, all beautiful music creates geometric beauty when imprinted onto water. A deep cymascopic study would be needed to compare Beethoven's music with that of Mozart or any other composer. A mathematic technique called Planckian Distribution Equation, developed by Professor Sunchul Jiof Rutgers University, can now be used to make qualitative comparisons between CymaGlyphs so such a study will, one day, be possible.

Very interesting! Seems to be numbed patterning that hold for a few chords.. And I was patterns I have not seen before . Piano seems to be very good with Cymascope. I wonder what part the three strings tuned closely together in equal temperament has On patterns.. And the abilities to build resonance (memory) in the water ?

Hi John, I downloaded your app, but it wasn't what I was expecting. I would like to request a Cynascope animation if I may, assuming that you have access to the full capabilities of the Cynascope. Carrier Frequency: 70 Hz and 140 Hz simultaneously Beat Frequency: 9 Hz

How do I create a video like this on the app?
@cymascope4986
@cymascope4986 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Bridget, the present version of the CymaScope app does not output video, although it can be mirrored to a computer to capture the imagery that way, using proprietary mirroring software. It will be fun but not of the same standard as our Beethoven tribute video as that was created on a laboratory CymaScope Pro instrument. A second generation CymaScope app is currently in the planning stages and it will output video, and covers the entire piano range. John Stuart Reid
