In this video we take a look at turning the face of a bobcat pelt, an integral step prior to salting and tanning. Learn how to properly invert the ears inside out, and split open the skin around the mouth, eyes and nose. This is some must-have knowledge whether you tan pelts yourself, or desire to send them to a tannery. Don’t risk having the hair fall out around the face - proper penetration of the salt and tanning chemicals is imperative, and this video will show you everything you need.

I was getting so overwhelmed with everything and had no idea where to start. I've watched/taken notes on 3 of your videos so far, and you really break down these processes in an easy to understand way! I like that you always explain why you're doing what you're doing, too. Thank you!!!

Amy, those ear turners are downtown girl. I definitely need to invest in a few sizes of those. Just finished a Yukon Lynx on a finger, again, for the like 550 th time this decade.

Amy your videos are some of the most informative on youtube and Im not kidding, you really are a great teacher. Like I said, Im a trapper, not a taxidermist, but I enjoy watching your videos so much Ive watched them all even though I have no desire to get into taxidermy! Just interesting to watch/learn how things are done. Cant wait for more videos, thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. Like I said, your tanning video and those geared toward guys doing a couple hobby crafts for themselves are the best I have seen on youtube and I have watched HOURS worth of videos on the topics. The filming, sounds, lighting, instruction are the BEST and you should be proud of that!

Ditto for what all the others said: amazing talent and great teaching ability too! I do not want to be a taxidermist (too many other hobbies already), but it’s really fun to watch you work. Thanks!

Really appreciate you doing these videos Amy, Im not into taxidermy, but Im a trapper interested in tanning and putting up my own fur, your channel has quickly became my favorite for info that helps me do that. keep em coming! I'd like ot make some wall hangers and maybe even some fox/beaver rugs/hoops for decoration, would like to see any additional videos you make regarding those endeavors. You make some really quality instructional videos, sounds, lighting is all really really good, and you're a great teacher, slow/step by step and explain everything in detail, so many videos leave me with questions but you do a very thorough job and I appreciate it! I'm learning tons, your tanning video was the absolute best I have seen and I've ordered products you recommend because of it. Again, really appreciate you making these videos for those of us who arent pros, trained right, and would seek the pros for work that we wanted at that level, but for those of us who dabble in doing something with fur when prices are the lowest they have ever been, you give us hope to make something we can give as a gift or for our own enjoyment and I for one really appreciate it. I know Im not pro level, and like I said, the big stuff is still sent to those who do it everyday, but some of us enjoy making something to hang on the wall and get some value out of all the work we put in.

Amy I want to thank you so much for your videos, they have been a great help for me. I started taxidermy and tanning not long ago but I’ve always been fascinated by it. I do it as a Hobby and it helps me incredibly well with coping with my problems in life and let’s me get up in the morning. Without your videos I wouldn’t have had the courage to start and I want to thank you so much for making this possible. Whenever I’m in a bad mood and can’t motivate myself to do anything because my depression hit again I watch one of your videos and instantly cheer up and get new motivation to get up and go work on my pieces. I aspire to be as good as you one day, even though it will probably take years and years of practice, but so be it. Thank you again for your great content and your great work.

Great video Amy. This is why I pay a good taxidermist to do this. The first thing I would do trying to turn out those small ear flaps is slip through the hide and run the knife into my finger! Really appreciate you showing the process.

When you do it the first time it takes AWFULLY long, but as you get to know the process and the exact anatomy it’ll get easier and faster! It took me 3 hours to flesh my first boar hide… the face? Was ok i think, the ears? we don’t talk about the ears here xD

@amysanimalart
@amysanimalart Жыл бұрын
You can do it! Turning noses on little things like this is easy. Just split down the middle and slightly open up the wings. Once it’s tanned, chipping the cartilage off for mounting is a little more challenging. Guess I need to do another video on that
