Author, action-movie hero, sitcom star, children’s book illustrator, advertising pitchman, playable video game character, talent show host, high-end furniture designer, and human rights activist all describe the man that is TERRY CREWS. Crews will release his memoir, Tough: My Journey to True Power on April 26, 2022, via Penguin Random House. In it, Crews chronicles the story of how he went from being a six-year-old boy with a goofy, toothless smile to being utterly selfish and angry, to a man who can finally acknowledge his own weaknesses and vulnerabilities and use his experiences to help motivate those around him.
After several years in the NFL (where he painted portraits of teammates to supplement his income) with the Los Angeles Rams, San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles, Crews turned his talents to the performing arts, where his talent, hard work, character, and dedication has made him one of the most sought out and respected talents in the industry.

The growing in life with monkey man circus verses spiritual is different for each person's journey. As a child the Watts riots stopped before my house. 9.6 miles of terrorist violence I thought Spirit God stopped riots. When I grew I thought perhaps the drug dealer connection stopped riots. Now after survival of employment of morongo, I wonder if Indian community stopped riots. My house was in the middle of drug dealers house and Indian community. Seemingly since the 1800's nestle/morongo Indian Hitler mafia gang has been exempt of consequences of breaking law's and genocidal behavior's since the 1800's in California and beyond! Scary monopolized businesses worldwide! Then DNA testing provides them information on human beings they find disposable.

“Take out the parts that don’t fit. Nothing is broken, they just don’t fit.” That’s a huge testimonial to how to live your life right. You need to get rid of what is not serving you, that don’t work for you personally, and keep what does work and does fit as a perfect piece to the person you are and the life you desire and deserve, and get rid of the pieces of you that aren’t beneficial, don’t work, and are not you, and are a hinderance to you being your best version of yourself. You should never give up on yourself. All you need to do is tweak the way you’ve constructed your life and your mind, and get rid of those parts, those ideas, those thoughts, those habits, those urges, that really aren’t you, they are not serving you, and do not work with the person you really are which is to be yourself but to be the best version of yourself. Thank you Terry and Lewis for this awesome interview. Loved both of your testimonials and everything spoken from the ground up. 💯 ❤️ 🙏🏼

That's got to be the most honest interview I've ever seen. Though difficult to listen to, especially about poor little cocoa, it was incredible to hear someone be so honest and upfront about their mistakes and bad decisions in life. To hear of the way he dealt with the abuser was awe inspiring. To hear that he stick up for the ladies in the me too movement is really wonderful. The entire interview was packed full of gems that could help someone struggling with past issues that create overwhelming anger. He has every right to be extremely proud of himself and the progress he's made. Xxx

I cried a few times watching this, it is so rare to see men emotionally vulnerable, it is refreshing: I love how Terry Crews described how the church deals with traumatic folks generalizing as "the devil" his honest self-reflective talk shall save a few lives. Also, is so true therapy has been changing my psychology but also opened my eyes, thank you Lewis your talks are challenging and self introspection-inducing.

Wow! Terry went to my 24 Hr Fitness gym in Sherman Oaks CA in 2009 & I was this skinny pale goth dude that everyone their gave dirty looks but he was nice to me & actually told me how to lift right, I had no idea he was a celebrity at the time & recognized him years later on Hulu on that show Brooklyn Nine Nine. I was abused by my dad too just like him & was bullied, now that I know his story, it makes sense that he was nice enough to talk to me cause he probably could sense we had something in common. I can relate to so much of how he felt. Respect ✊ 💪🐇🐰🛸👽

You just saved my life and made it even better @Terry Crews. The story about you being at the age of 30 having your big moment with your father. It kind of gave me hope that I'm not the only one who has to deal with abusive, disrespectful little family members. The story is interesting. My childhood abuse started out with my father. Which eventually made me look like the bad guy and then having every family member and relative hate me. Hate me to the point where every little family relative is a physical, mental, emotional and a psychological threat to me. These family members protect my dad and now the family members and relatives are the primary abusers now. Typically, in an abusive family system. It one guy [like a dad, mom, brother sister] that is the primary abuser and the snake's head. However at this point and the last 10 years [really TBH]. The whole family or everyone I know has risen to that level [it's called being a flying monkey in narcissistic abuse terminology] This has really made me feel like I'm stuck in the dark. However, in this past year I have realized that true self reflection and real therapy is a key to success. True authenticity is the way to go. If not then I will remain in trouble. I do recognize the fact that that I will need to totally stand up for myself here if I really wanna be that guy that I need to be here

This conversation is so important bc anger is something people don’t talk about and if you don’t admit or talk about it how are you supposed to handle it. Not all aspects of us are pretty. But it’s there to help us grow if we choose. Don’t let trauma control you. Break free from the triggers and live a life of peace. Don’t let the past make you believe you are incapable of changing. Yaass!! Terry is quoting Wallace D. Wattles in The Science of Getting Rich when he says, competition is the opposite of creativity. Wallace D. Wattles says it this way... when you compete, you kick the ladder down behind you so that others can not rise. But when you create there is no competition and others are benefitted just as you are because you are not taking anything away from anyone. You are creating something new! That statement set me free to just do the things I love with no fear of the other guy or competition!!!
@richardsmith6083
@richardsmith6083 2 жыл бұрын
One of the Latin roots of the word competition means 'to strive together'. My son and I do this on the tennis court where our competition serves to raise the standard of play for both of us. In many endeavours it can be the desire to do better than the 'other guy' -together with the corresponding responses- raises the standard for everyone. I personally find a combo of 'healthy' competition, married with creativity in a group situation, really stimulating. Thoughts...?

My go to book is The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. It set me free...but I see your point of marrying competition with creativity. That seems prudent. I guess for some, the focus of the "other guy" can be intimidating and/or angering. In those cases, creativity works extremely well in allowing you to focus on your success and what you can do to excel beyond expectations. This hyoer-focus can put you in a miraculous place, with respect to whatever it is you are aiming for, some call it the zone.

Hi Sonya, I have known such people! - as have you obviously. Not my favs, I must say. Yes, Terry clarifies a bit further on when he talks about... I've forgotten what the word is that he used- I'm a bit tired today- but essentially mutual cooperation/encouragement towards a common goal, which is something I really love. Its been a while since I've been in the zone/flow...I need to get back there asap.! Lol Cool, thanks! I remember now - COLLABORATE!

10 years and 2 children with a narcissist sociopath… I loved him unconditionally losing myself and giving up my hopes and dreams to being successful and having a family 😢 I’ve learned I also was a product of an abusive adopted family. My adoptive mother was a narcissist and abused me something awful and I turned into an empath just wanting to love and to be loved I grew extremely nurturing and my narc ex partner I saw and felt all his hurt believing in him I wanted us to WIN 🏆 But after 10 yrs he still doesn’t want the light or the love from me or his beautiful daughters 😢 So now I’m a single mom loving myself healing ❤️‍🩹 praying for al those hurt ones out there … because there’s millions of us who have to learn childhood traumas are the cause of why we become a bad version of ourselves. Peace love and healing to all 👑🌈❤️‍🩹

Terry if you check these post , I just want to thank you for this interview. Being from Battle Creek , MI (factory town), instead of being obsessed with becoming strong, I retreated to trying to be invisible. I was content to be the "sidekick" in my friendships without really realizing it. I tried to justify it by saying that I was "learning" by watching my role models with the hope that I would take those lessons and apply them to myself. The problem was is that the 'lessons' went against my core values that I had adopted that quite frankly turned me into a "super Simp" when it came to women. I am still working to find a balance despite my age (64) with the hope that it is not too late for at least companionship. Thanks Again.

Terry, i thanks you because thanks to your humble confessions about your past, personal life, i learned very important things. One, its the difference between Guilty and Shame, VERY IMPORTANT, and the second its to look at the child in the photo and say: "That's a bad kid?, how can that kid could be evil? "... i am at 51 minutes of this video and i had to write this... THANKS YOU..... THANKS YOU BECAUSE IT MEANS A LOT FOR ME, TO FORGIVE ME AND CONTINUE ASSAMBLING MYSELF... RESPECTS AND LOVE FROM ARGENTINA.
