Beggin' sung by Phillip Phillips on American Idol bass cover. This song original by Madcon.
ABOUT MY CHANNEL & ME. This is me learning to play my Peavey Millennium BXP 4-string bass. My first bass since deciding to learn to play an instrument. GO ME!! OK everyone CHILL! This is me, learning this song, any song, and learning to read music and tabs. Learning, learning and then.... learning. Even figuring out how to set up my bass and amp, hold it, make sound come out. Setting up a little camera and using it's sorry little mic. I know it’s not a hard song, it’s not a well done cover by any means, but.... it was fun learning. Yes, there are a lot of views, probably 99% by accident, and because there's a girl playing a bass. It's a process ya know, this loving music, enjoying bass videos, deciding I wanted to play music, specifically a bass, and following through. The rest is history in my little life.
This is me LEARNING this song, I don't play it “correctly” I’m told (duh) It is what it is & I had fun learning :) But, I tried anyway. I started this channel to upload my videos so I could share my journey with my family and friends. Back then I couldn’t text or even email videos, they were too large.
I wasn’t uploading to show off for strangers, I respect musicians enough to realize the work that goes into playing bass and respect the real musicians out there who inspire me. I only want to play bass because I enjoy it, it helps me cope with my illnesses, it's therapeutic, helping exercise my joints, fingers, hands because I have Scleroderma, Achalasia and Lupus. Autoimmune diseases that strike and begin destroying your immune system, internal organs, joints, muscle, nerves and the very parts of my body used to play an instrument. Figures! I find a passion.... set out to learn and enjoy... only to be diagnosed with disorders that will eventually end my ability to hold a bass and play anything. So I keep playing and adapting myself and mobility issues so that I CAN keep playing music. It's not technically correct, looks awkward, but my technique works for me. To hold a bass, play notes, put them together and sound comes out! There was nothing to show off for. If so, why the heck would I share my journey uploading covers that have mistakes.
These videos have never been monetized, it's copyrighted music. I'm embarrassed to admit that 14 years ago, when I started this channel, I was clueless as to monetization and that a person could make money on KZfaq! Duh me but hey. Imagine my surprise, when after quitting KZfaq for 10 years then returning, seeing the word "influencer" and seeing a bunch of content creators, "KZfaqrs," who make their money on KZfaq. Kudos to them that is awesome! Seriously. And..... alllll the bass guitar channels online now which I enjoy so much! 🤘
Now, 14 years later, and all the opportunities I’ve enjoyed playing bass in bands, writing my own music and bass parts, even doing studio work! Who would have thought?! I’m happy to say I’m glad I decided to pick this hobby up, and even grateful I started a channel to document it. Because I've met so many nice, cool and inspiring people from around the world. It doesn't matter to me HOW you got to my channel, what matters is you DID and you took the time to watch, comment and even subscribe. I'm forever grateful to y'all because it's you guys that kept me plugging along, learning. Sappy I know, but it's my truth.
It’s pretty funny to me all the flexing that happens in the comments by people saying I play the bass incorrectly, I’m terrible, that song was wrong, her thumb is in the wrong place, her bass isn’t plugged in, things like, “I’m in a band and you suck! You’ll never learn it and no one will let you join a band!!” "God your fucking ugly, go kill yourself bitch" (yes I spelled "you're" wrong... no I didn't, the troll did) Why people stop by and take the time to hate on others, I’ve never understood. But those who stopped by and took the time to leave nice, uplifting comments or excellent advice and constructive criticism is what I pay attention to. Thank you! I’ve met some wonderful bassists who are my friends now and helped me through the years' progression. That is worth it for me! 💜🤘✌️
