There's so many people on KZfaq making maker-style content who have really high production value - Scott Yu-Jan just uploaded a video earlier today I really enjoyed. But I don't think I've seen anyone be so open about the learning side of the process and showing themselves developing the skills to make something like this, while also having nice production value and really put together videos. It's neat! Looking forward to whatever you do next

Thank You!!! This comment is exactly what I am aiming for in these videos. Trying to honestly share my journey of being a beginner, with enough story and production value to make them interesting enough to watch. Cheers mate. Oh and Scott Yu-Jan is a big inspiration. Thanks for that! It's definitely the hardest I've worked on videos - two in a month! I'd be lying if I said these were the first videos I've shot and edited. I've dabbled a bit in the past. I've probably made 10-15 little videos of some sort in the past 10-15 Years.

As someone also trying to learn how to 3D model and beginner 3D printing, it is definitely worth it to just keep working toward that goal. I personally find myself gaining too many interests and hyper focusing on each one, one at a time. Great Video! It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't try to accomplish a project using only the printer and ignoring all the other tools/techniques we have. Multi colour prints are neat and all, but a little paint can do so much more... If you want to go down another hobby rabbit hole. Investing in an airbrush can really up your painting game ;)

Amazing editing, great sound design, pacing, and atmosphere once again! I'm going to take some notes. Everyone makes videos differently, and the natural way you achieve yours is really, really good. I had issues with scripting too at the start, I still script a ton, but before, it was word for word, shot for shot. It was robotic. (My old G10 video is a good example,) Unlike yours which feels human. Much more human. We're also getting a story, with a project. That's more than a win. Glad you got PCBWay on board! Everything changed for me once they reached out and I'm sure the same will be for you too. (As you mentioned, NZ Camera gear is expensive haha.) The bench turned out great! Appreciate your support too! All the best Scott. Cheers, Tommy.
@AttemptedMaker
@AttemptedMaker Ай бұрын
Thanks Tommy, I still have a lot to learn. It takes a lot of work to appear natural 😅. I've done a bit of writing and performing in the past so I'm not exactly starting from scratch. Still doing it in front of a camera whilst trying to remember to check you haven't accidentally changed the shutter speed is a whole other thing! Whenever I find a KZfaq channel I like with awesome videos, I always go back and watch their first videos to see how they started. You can really see how much you've improved in your videos, your Ender 3000 vid is so good.
@TommyHoughton

Yeah I can relate to that. Getting the settings on point takes some time, but after a while it’ll be ingrained. If you a bit of photography as well it can help, that’s how I did it at the beginning. The pro’s make the talking to the camera part look so easy, but they’ve got wells of experience. I do the same as well with other channels, comparing the Boya Review to the Ender 3000 video would be fun, huge contrast. I love the Ender video, it’s one of my favourites. Your first video is already extremely good as you know, so I can only imagine where you’ll be in 6-12 months time. I’ll be there to see it. Cheers, Tommy

first of all, good pacing and editing in general! maybe that's just me, but i didn't think the song you put under the montage video was very fitting, but i think i heard that song in a fps drone video or snowboard tricks compilation, so maybe that's why. On the last shot of you talking to the camera your exposure time seems to be off and it resulted in a lot of motion blur. rule of thumb is an exposure time of 1/(2x your framerate), so if you film in 25fps, your exposure time would be 1/50 for a more natural motion blur. other than that, i think you're on the right path! all the best on your future endeavours mate

Thanks for the constructive feedback mate. That conclusion shot was killing me! I had accidentally changed the shutter speed. I set myself upload deadlines to avoid falling into the trap if not finishing videos and I just didn't have the time to reshoot it (along with a lot of other stuff 😅). Music choice is pretty overwhelming, I'm still feeling it out. Might take a few videos before I really get a feel for it.

There is infinite appetite for authentic content on the internet, so do things that interest you and KZfaq will take care of the rest. I'm curious, now that you've made this video, will you do anything differently on the next project? How do you decide when to collect B-roll, video check-ins, etc? Do you write the script at the end? Or discover it as you go? Asking for a friend... lol

Damn! This doesn't look like the second video of a new channel! Great content, great editing, overall 10/10. Looking forward to more videos 💪 Quick heads up regarding your steel filament: Your nozzle is made out of brass and this is softer than steel. After just a little part of that spool, your nozzle will be fucked due to abrasion! If you plan on printing more steel filament (or glow in the dark or carbon fiber), get yourself a hardened nozzle :)

@AttemptedMaker Ай бұрын
Thanks Felix! I recognize that blue hair from a comment on my first video. Yeah I had a bit of the video I ended up cutting out where I talked about using a hardened nozzle, all metal heat break and upgraded bowden tubing. Basically it was printing well and I didn't want to mess it up. I already had the parts to upgrade so in the end I just printed it on the old parts, then spent way too long doing some upgrades.

Great job, though I'm a bit disappointed you didn't take it out to the park to get some shots with the real thing.

I had thoughts about trying to do a bit of a Zack King style swap out with the real park bench. But that's a lot of work! Might give it a go for a short or something when I have a bit more filming and editing skill.

-1 for not going all the way. Where's the park, where's the concrete pad it sat on? JK. You went pretty far with it. Respect. Looks great.

Haha you're pretty on to it. I actually took photos and wanted to include the concrete pad, and grass, and a backdrop of some sort... Then I remembered I have no idea how to do any of it.

Dremel Versatip. It's a gas soldering iron / heat gun. It's the same thing I was using to poke at the table legs to attempt giving them texture.

It might be going against the grain but if you really want to do this and enjoy it. Please make videos that you enjoy and not videos that produce numbers. And I know its hard but try not obsessing over the numbers. If you think you made a good video people will like it. Try building a community instead of a company

Thanks for you're thoughts. I feel you for sure. I do have a bunch of ideas of videos I actually want to make. I'm still gonna make the videos I planned to make when I expected no one would pay any attention. The trick for me is actually making them! I know this video really plays up the pressure of making a new video, but the truth is - for some weird reason - I need pressure and deadlines to force me to actually do (and finish) the things I love. But damn - those numbers tho

@@AttemptedMaker i am really happy your video is doing this great. And my man, im walking in the same shoes as you are. Obviously i dont know you but i think it has to be adhd or smth similar. Without deadlines or preassure i just procracinate forever whilst thinking im a frickin dissapointment for not making anything. Personally having friends motivate you, "ordering" you to do your projects works somewhat
