Beginner Keyboard Comparison - Monsgeek M1 vs Keychron Q1 Pro

Monsgeek M1 and Keychron Q1 Pro are two keyboards that are great for beginners, they are reasonably priced and easy to customize. I put these keyboards side by side to look at what you get with each to see if one is superior to the other.

Finally found a comparison between these two keyboards. Personally I feel the M1 has more value for the money because it is literally more than half the price compared to the Q1 Pro if I'm not wrong. Just a general feedback I feel the video background music is abit distracting, might want to lower the volume or remove it entirely while talking in your future videos. Overall great video and comparison, good job!

The M1 really is a fantastic value. Thanks so much for the feedback! I am definitely lowering the music in videos moving forward, I agree its a bit much in some of these and we want to focus on the keyboards

These, their full packed/latest versions are great, once modded, but as was out of my budget I went with Keychron V1 Max, as an upgrade to my K2 V2, which I modded and sounds much better than these out of box. Definitely will be modding V1 Max as well.

For me, m1 is an endgame keyboard. I have ducky one 3 prebuilt too, and they're both great. Why would anyone need anything else?

The dealbreaker for me with the M1 is that the switch for mac or windows, is under the Capslock. Whereas Keychrons at the back

I've found the foam gaskets and foam layers under the plates and PCB, aside from the sound difference, make a difference in terms of the perceived feel of build quality. They make everything feel more sturdy and refined.

which do you think has the bigger case? i want my keyboard to have a big case so that it stands out more on my setup.

Thats an interesting question. I just put them up side by side as best I can and they are really close in size. The M1 is slightly wider, but I mean very slightly. The Q1 pro has a lot more angles to it which definitely make it have a smaller appearance in general. The M1 is more like a giant block with the inside just CNC'd with a blockier base etc which makes it seem much larger, but again they are very very close in size.

@@aphrodite4005 Thats a tough one, I think if I had an M1 in black I would prob like it more, im not a huge fan of the silver with the gold colored accent pieces on the side, but thats really the only thing that I dont love looks wise on the M1. I think the M1 has a bulkier presence and I like how its kinda just a block of aluminum lol. Texture on the knob is something I like on the Q1 Pro as opposed to the smooth M1 Knob, but thats pretty nit picky.

what would be your personal recommendation for barebone 75%? i was looking to buy seperate switches (tactile akko cream blue) and keycaps (MA) and thought the q1 pro was good but i dont need wireless and i dont know what would be better for quality, longevity and a deeper sound.

Between these I personally would go M1, especially if you don't need wireless, if you are looking barebones, its such a good deal and it comes with almost everything to help tune the sound of the board. Even the case foam in the M1 I think is a step above. My biggest issue with the M1 is just getting the plate around the stabilizers is a pain, but most people probably arent tearing the board apart every week like I do. You wont make a bad choice between the two I actually daily drive both right now, its just hard for me to justify the added cost of a barebones Q1 Pro, at least for the extra 20 bucks as a prebuilt you get switches and keycaps (but they are KSA profile which I dont love)

Having all of them .. the M1 is a very cheap version of the AKKO MOD 007 and the $40 or $50 cost difference isn't worth the savings. The big advantage to Keychron is it uses the standardized now web based VIA and not some potential Chinese spyware software.

Does MOD 007 has RGB? From what i see there are 3 versions of it and it looks like V2 has RGB. But it's very difficult to find correct information. Backlight is very handy for me.

@@allidsarebusy .. The MOD 007 series has RGB, the earlier models which I prefer had north facing RGB and the newer ones are south. The exception is the MOD 007 V3 VIA series with its flex cut PCB which does NOT offer RGB.

@@DJaquithFL Hi yeah thanks. At first i didn't noticed that there are 3 versions of it. However, everything is sold out! Like all over the world except for Philippines and they don't ship world wide. I just got used to backlight so much, otherwise i would just buy SPR 67 DIY Kit as i like it. They still have MonsGeek M7W DIY Kit but i like AKKO models better. Not sure if there is much difference quality wise or is ti just a mtter of taste.

@@allidsarebusy .. The case on the AKKO is much more refined in its fit and finish. None of the edges on the AKKO are harsh and sharp, whereas they are on the cheaper MonsGeek. Personally doesn't make a difference to me what anybody buys and I understand availability issues. If you don't need a keyboard immediately then go over to AKKO, search for .. MOD .. then find a model and color you like and get placed on a waiting list. For the most part, maybe a couple months. No matter where you're at, AKKO is shipping directly from China so I don't think they care as long as there's not some embargo.
