This was my favourite kit that I had my eyes on for a really long time and just when I was about to buy it I find out that it is discontinued 😔. No websites have it other than eBay where it’s being sold for 280-320. Which is just not worth it. I would kill for this to be back in stock 😅

These, their full packed/latest versions are great, once modded, but as was out of my budget I went with Keychron V1 Max, as an upgrade to my K2 V2, which I modded and sounds much better than these out of box. Definitely will be modding V1 Max as well.

got this board a while ago, but replaced it last year for a better keyboard after getting more into the hobby (felt i needed a new one anyway). gonna give the redragon to a friend whos totally new to mechanical keyboards & i may give him some supplies to make it sound better & show him how to mod it. at the very least i want to give him better switches. when i got this board i was just not a fan at all, but at least theyre better than browns imo. its definitely good for the price all things considered, & i think itll be a good keyboard for my friend to get into the hobby

baby kangaroos or voyagers?
@TactileTalk
@TactileTalk 6 ай бұрын
That's a tough one because I love them both. They are very similar, I think the kangaroos have touch crisper feel to the tactile bump where the voyagers feel a touch smoother. You won't make a bad choice with either. I use the voyagers in my main keyboard and have been using them for months and before that it was the baby kangaroos. The Voyagers I think sound a little better, but I also have them in the zoom75 which sounds incredible

I picked up the Bakeneko65 on their mystery sale this week, $69, and it's a lot of fun. I got grey with the zinc weight. I put in a few switches around the edge then put the O ring on it and then the rest of the switches were easy. I did add some poron to the bottom of the case due to the zinc weight as I had some lying around. I put Oil Kings in it and it's actually quite deep sounding which was unexpected with no plate foam but I like it quite a bit. I didn't use the O ring on my Neo65 so this was the first time I built this type keyboard and it was a lot of fun, especially for the sale price! Great and very through review! You videos are great, high hopes you start to get the subs you deserve!

I own this kit and I find it useful. I agree that it is missing tweezers and and a stem holder. The keycap opener requires a fair amount of time and effort, so it does not scale well with keyboard switch lube project, but a word on this in a moment. The switch capacity of the workstation aligns with the typical (at least at this time) count of a Glorious switch pack of 36 switches. I found that having this workstation, or a reasonable facsimile, was necessary to preserve my sanity. It was worth the money. Now back to the keycap puller. I sprung for the Gateron keycap opener and it is a joy to use when in assembly line mode; however, I found that if I had the misfortune to close a switch with the stem facing the wrong way (i.e., the stem will not depress) having the Glorious opener was a lifesaver. The Gateron opener applied too much force and in once case I bent the leaf making it unusable. Here the Glorious opener was useful in being able to open the switch without damaging the internals Clearly an error on my part, so it was nice to have a safer though more time consuming alternative to repair a problem of my own creation.

I have a keyboard with outemu reds, this is my first mechanical keyboard, and I kinda like them, but I found them on the light side; also, I make many typos by pressing keys without realizing it. I would like to try a tactile switch that feels heavier, not prone to typos, and fantastic for RGB. What would you recommend? Which switches should I try first? I've been thinking about Durock T1 clear or Akko cream blue v3 because they are cheaper...
@TactileTalk
@TactileTalk 8 ай бұрын
Akko makes great switches for a good price. I still really like the gateron baby kangaroos and it seems like a lot of people agree those are a great switch. Personally the T1 isn’t super high on my list for a heavy tactile switch, there’s nothing wrong with them and you can get a strong spring if you want some you need to push hard but I’m not in love with their squishier feel

From my experince with the Q1 version 2 I found that more foam in the base makes the keyboard much louder. That, in addition to the PCB tape mod made my Q1 too loud for me. I ended up removing two layers of the PCB tape (keeping just one layer) and kept the stock foam.

Just got the Baby Kangaroo V2 to my Keychron Q1 PRO and Q2 PRO, better pins on the new ones too. They came lubed, but way too sparse for my tase, they also had a sharp ping from the spring. But after some more lube they feel and sound very nice. I have used several tactile switches before, but with these you can really feel the satisfying bump.

Having all of them .. the M1 is a very cheap version of the AKKO MOD 007 and the $40 or $50 cost difference isn't worth the savings. The big advantage to Keychron is it uses the standardized now web based VIA and not some potential Chinese spyware software.
@allidsarebusy

Does MOD 007 has RGB? From what i see there are 3 versions of it and it looks like V2 has RGB. But it's very difficult to find correct information. Backlight is very handy for me.

@@allidsarebusy .. The MOD 007 series has RGB, the earlier models which I prefer had north facing RGB and the newer ones are south. The exception is the MOD 007 V3 VIA series with its flex cut PCB which does NOT offer RGB.

@@DJaquithFL Hi yeah thanks. At first i didn't noticed that there are 3 versions of it. However, everything is sold out! Like all over the world except for Philippines and they don't ship world wide. I just got used to backlight so much, otherwise i would just buy SPR 67 DIY Kit as i like it. They still have MonsGeek M7W DIY Kit but i like AKKO models better. Not sure if there is much difference quality wise or is ti just a mtter of taste.
@DJaquithFL
@DJaquithFL 8 ай бұрын
@@allidsarebusy .. The case on the AKKO is much more refined in its fit and finish. None of the edges on the AKKO are harsh and sharp, whereas they are on the cheaper MonsGeek. Personally doesn't make a difference to me what anybody buys and I understand availability issues. If you don't need a keyboard immediately then go over to AKKO, search for .. MOD .. then find a model and color you like and get placed on a waiting list. For the most part, maybe a couple months. No matter where you're at, AKKO is shipping directly from China so I don't think they care as long as there's not some embargo.

If you’re coming from K2, how much of an improved experience do you think the Q1 pro is?
@TactileTalk
@TactileTalk 9 ай бұрын
I think it’s a pretty big step up but depends what matters to you. You get a much higher quality fee from the weight, I like the layout of the Q1 more as well and the sound is great too. I have an older k2 that had flakey wireless but the Q1 has been reliable but again it’s all up to what matters to you the k2 is still a solid choice

A few suggestions: - I'd probably do a force break. Since it's a two piece keyboard, the vibrations from the top case transfer in the lower case, creating ping and hollowness. While the included Polyfill helps, find force break to be more effective. - I'd also remove the mounting screw nearest of the spacebar. Generally, giving more movement to the spacebar will allow it sound more free and fuller. - I found FR4 top mount to be on the stiffer side. More flexible plates such as PC, POM, and PP can yield potentially really nice sound and feel on top mount. I think for a top mount board that was released a few years ago, I think you can get it for $125 like you did at the time, pretty worth. However, it's currently $200, which is only $100 off the original price of $300. Considering there are other top mount TKLs rn that are around the same price but offer just a bit more, it's a hard sell atm.

I bought the lubed Pandas, they were lubed well from the factory and cost was easily worth my time to do other things. They are my favorite switch so far but I haven't tried the baby Kangaroos yet, I'll get some on order and try them though based upon your videos! @@TactileTalk Yes, I needed 3 boxes so lubed that was over $100 which was cheaper though than the Drop versions but still that is a lot of $$$ for switches. The only mods I did was replace that case foam with slightly thicker Poron foam and it definitely made a difference in the sound without changing the gasket performance much at all. To me it was only too flexy but now it's pretty perfect. My stabs were well lubed but I'm still not sure I love the banana switches, they are ok for now but may eventually switch them out. I did replace the keycaps which made the keyboard sound much deeper IMHO. The taller profile just seemed very clacky to me and I didn't enjoy the taller profile. Great review! I do have to say I'm pretty happy with mine as I have it connected bluetooth to multiple devices then plug it in if I want to game on it.

I tried the 68g U4T's, and you're right, they were a lot heavier than the 62 U4's I almost don't like them… it's a little sad. Now that I've said that though, I realize I could probably switch the springs for the 2 because I think I'd like either switch more in that config. The U4's need some more oomph, being a silent (still fun to type on though) You ought to try the KeebzNCables Ice Kachang switches. CreamKeys rated them very highly, and I have to say… after trying the prelubed version… I immediately boxed up 6 different switches to get rid of they're so good
