Beginner Knife Making on a Budget

How to make a knife for beginners, using scrap metal and basic tools, for free.
A few months ago I made a video questioning if it was possible to make a knife out of recycled metal bed frames. Are metal bed frames made from high carbon steel? Can this steel be hardened? Can it make quality knives? The answer is yes.
Being my first knife build, I take a beginner approach to making knives and try to explain everything I do to the best of my ability.
Knife making is no joke! The learning curve is steep and you will make mistakes. So why not practice on recycled metal bed frames, which are made of high carbon steel, instead of expensive knife steel. Personally, I think it's a great material to learn on.

I do mechanic work and I have a bunch of worn out cams and cranks and various bearings other smaller pieces of steel to use for when I get my forge set back up because I did it before I moved and sold all my old equipment I use hand tool only one I used is a bench grinder and angle grinder

Also im a woodworker turned knife maker i always send more time on my handles then my blades but I'm just getting goin still and have 3rd of the tools I need

How did you come across the metal for free? I often browse for parts in the local scrapyard here, but no matter how junky something is, they still sell it by weight. Just industrial trash bins?

I find a lot posted for free online. Usually market place. Also, I've gotten them for free from people giving freebies away at garage sales. Just keep checking frequently and something should pop up.
