You should be running a hot plug in the winter :) engines are very sensitive to the plugs. Replace it now with a hot one and it will run better

I’m new to nitro cars and I just purchased a brand new one. I turned started it and the engine just screamed like it was at full throttle. The engine smoked a little by the time I put my hand over the exhaust to stop the engine. then I decided to have another go, however it would not start again and I removed the glow plug to check if it was ok and it won’t glow and just smoked a little. I may have to replace the glow plug, but any help with why it responded that why first time started?

@minimeez1000 you should stick to what was recommended :) warmer in winter and cooler plugs in summer.

@plasmavor1 Yes you can try a cooler glow plug. Or perhaps it's just a hotter running engine, some run cooler than others

@stopurdeadmate Glow plugs vary in price depending on Type & make. check with your local hobby stores

Sounds like the threads have gone bad in the burn room :) You can replace the burn room.

Not overly. Varies from Engine to engine but your not looking at a huge amount :)

I need help big time. Just got new nitro RC buggy and then I bought some random fuel and a random glow-plug igniter and then I tried it out and it started for only 2 secs then it stopped I did it again and again trying to keep it up but then I gave up. The next day I tried it again but this time it did nothing (fuel was left in the pipes during night because idk how to get it out). Did I destroy the glow plug/ engine? Have I got the right fuel? Right glow plug igniter? Right oxygen:nitro?thnx!!!

Hey, I have a car that I run on 16% nitro and is 3.5cc and is insanely quick and very high performance but also pushes the limits of upper engine hotness even when it is well tuned and as a result glowplugs burn out quite fast, should I get a cooler glow plug?

Just run them don't worry about glow plugs. I've never had one fail or changed one in 17 years. Same plug for all fuels and all year round and no problems at all.

hey i need help. my RC truck wont start and i have tried everything my glow plug lights up bright orange and it also very cold outside. it starts fine first thing when i take it outside but then stalls, turns off and then i can`t start it again. what should i do my idle gap is a little wide but i like it that way, i charged my igniter over night, i prime it very good, and like i said my glow plug glows bright red / orange but it just wont f****** start and srry for the swear but i need help plz.

hey i use 20% nitro fuel byron fuel race gen2 ..... i was told to use a medium and to go to medium gold in hot weather... what i wanna know is can i just use medium all year and richen my engine a bit in summer and my engine will be ok..., thanks bigdave

What should i use in a nitro boat. Its all water cooled i use 20-25% fuel but no matter what i go through 50billion plugs a year

why yes it was interesting, although i think there is a limit to how exiting and adventurous one can be while speaking about glow plugs.

Nops the Glow plug wouldn't, as long as your starter has a 1.2v Regulator. Else you will burn out both battery and glow plug

can u help me with my traxxas slash nitro 3.3, im burning out all my glow plugs, i tried puting 3 washer and now i can ride without problem but i lost a lot of power, what is the correct repair to this problem?

yep when it lights up orange it works but if it doesnt its burnty out

Hi there just wondering if anyone has the same or similar problem like i do My hpi trophy truggy f4.6v2 nitro engine burns out the glow plug every full tank of fuel It's tuned perfectly and it has been serviced just recently at the shop where it was purchased from.. The lad at the shop knows about this and sold me a pack of 10 r5 glow plugs for 5 quid just to help me out Any ideas on what i should do...Before i attempt to convert it to brushless
