Yes, especially if you're 5'3. That's a big step up and down. I found it's important to be able to ride and slow down almost to a stop, keeping perfect balance. Then, stepping down. Don't step down while still moving until you're super comfortable. But just standing still and stepping on with right leg, then stepping off with left leg over and over at a stand still is the best way to gain the muscle memory
