Behind the Mystery: Glioblastoma (GBM)

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a rare brain tumor that can rapidly grow and spread into nearby brain tissue. It is difficult to treat and has a poor prognosis.
Treatment is a challenging task, due to the location and complexity of the tumor. Glioblastoma is not surgically curable because the tumor has left behind cells deep into the brain that can grow again. That's why many treatments fail or are ineffective for glioblastoma patients. Also, the brain has a special protective barrier called the blood-brain barrier that protects the brain from poison, and most chemotherapies are considered poisonous.
However, there are new investigational therapies for GBM including Tumor Treating Fields, treatments that can potentially cross the blood-brain barrier, and next-generation sequencing.
We'll hear more from Dr. Sigmund Hsu and a patient who was diagnosed with a GBM 15 years ago.

My mother was diagnosed last year. Completely healthy her whole life. Hospice has now given her one week. I pray for all affected by this disease

My GBM tumor was found after seizure. It will be 3 years Oct 30 since discovery. Dr has it correct that standard treatment has hit a wall for survival. I have been wearing my Optune for 32 months. I also put myself on a strict diet. Lots of prayers from lots of people.

My husband passed of stage 4 glioblastoma on April 30th, 2021, just two and a half weeks after his diagnosis. My prayers for all who suffer with this insidious disease.

My Brother recently passed away, because of GBM 4.. just 1.5 month survived after diagnosis. Why it's so deadlier,?

My husband diagnosed august 21 2021 GBM operated 2times after surgery he undergo radiation for 1 month,,, praise to Allah he is still with us
